Vomiset Syrup 30 ml

Vomiset Syrup is an antiemetic medicine. It is used in the treatment of paediatric gastroenteritis in infants and children aged 6 months to 12 years. It is also used in the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy in children aged six months and above. Nausea is an uneasy feeling in which a person feels an urge to vomit, while vomiting is the natural response to the body to forcefully discharge the stomach contents.

Vomiset Syrup contains 'Ondanestron', which belongs to serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of a chemical called serotonin in the body, which is responsible for causing nausea and vomiting. As a result, Vomiset Syrup prevents the sensation of nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy.

Vomiset Syrup may cause certain side effects in your child, such as feeling of warmth, headache, diarrhoea, and stomach pain. These side effects generally resolve over time. However, if it does not resolve, stop giving this medicine to your child and contact the paediatrician. Do not give more than the prescribed dose of Vomiset Syrup to the child. Vomiset Syrup can be given with or without food. The dose of the medicine will be decided by your paediatrician.

Vomiset Syrup is intended for paediatric use only. Avoid giving Vomiset Syrup to your child if he/she is allergic to it. Keep your doctor informed about your child’s health condition, including his current medications and medical history, to rule out any side effects/interactions. Before administration, inform your doctor if your child has liver and kidney disease.

This medicine is intended for only paediatric population. Hence not recommended for use in special population (pregnant, breastfeeding mothers) and adults.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Vomiset Syrup has interactions with certain medicines. Hence inform your paediatrician about your child’s complete medication history for further prevention of side effects.

Drug-Food Interactions: No interactions found/established. 

Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform your doctor before giving Vomiset Syrup if your child has any history of kidney or liver disease.

• Certain food items/medicines are known to cause nausea/vomiting to your child.
• Make your child drink more fluids to avoid dehydration.
• Making your child take a healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables, nuts, and low-fat dairy products will help to keep your child in good health and avoid chances of nausea and vomiting. 
• Avoid giving greasy or oily foods to your child as this food triggers nausea and vomiting. 

Nausea/Vomiting: Nausea is an uneasy feeling in the stomach that may come and go in waves in which a person feels a strong urge to vomit. It happens before vomiting. Vomiting is the forcible voluntary or involuntary emptying of stomach contents through the mouth. Usually, your child can face nausea and vomiting as the unpleasant effects of cancer therapy after chemotherapy. It is essential to control vomiting and nausea in cancer patients for performing everyday activities of the day. If not controlled, it can lead to mental changes, loss of appetite, malnutrition, and dehydration. Vomiset Syrup is used in the treatment of moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy in children.
