About Prosivate-S Ointment

Prosivate-S Ointment is a dermatological medication primarily used to treat eczema and psoriasis. Eczema is a skin condition associated with inflamed, itchy, cracked, and rough skin patches. Psoriasis is a skin disease in which skin cells multiply rapidly to form bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales.

Prosivate-S Ointment contains Clobetasol propionate (corticosteroid) and Salicylic acid (peeling agent). Clobetasol propionate is a corticosteroid that blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen, and itchy. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medicine (that softens, separates, and causes peeling of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin). It increases the amount of moisture in the skin and dissolves the substance that causes the skin cells to stick together.

Your doctor will advise the appropriate use of Prosivate-S Ointment that suits your infection. Common side effects of Prosivate-S Ointment include itching, dryness, and a burning sensation at the application site. These side effects are temporary and gradually resolve over time. If the side effects are persistent, please consult your doctor.

Let your doctor know if you are sensitive to Prosivate-S Ointment or any other medications. Do not use Prosivate-S Ointment on open wounds, blisters, and lesions. Please do not cover the affected areas with a dressing or bandage unless advised. Prosivate-S Ointment is not recommended for use in diaper rash. Let your doctor know if you have liver/kidney diseases, diabetes, Cushing's disease (high cortisol levels), and blood circulation problems before starting Prosivate-S Ointment. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Prosivate-S Ointment.
