Mucolite LS Syrup is used to provide relief from cough associated with bronchitis, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema (damage of air sacs in the lungs) and other bronchopulmonary disorders where bronchospasm, mucous plugging and problems of expectoration co-exist. Coughing (dry or productive) is the body's way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus or smoke) from airways and preventing infection.

Mucolite LS Syrup is a combination of three drugs, namely Levosalbutamol (bronchodilator), Ambroxol hydrochloride (mucolytic agent), and Guaiphenesin (expectorant). Levosalbutamol works by relaxing muscles and widening the airways of the lungs. Ambroxol hydrochloride works by thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose. Thereby helping to cough out phlegm easily. Guaiphenesin increases the volume of fluid in the airways, reduces the stickiness of mucus, and helps to remove it from the airways. Together, Mucolite LS Syrup helps relieve the cough.

Mucolite LS Syrup is for paediatric use. Your doctor will recommend how often your child needs to take Mucolite LS Syrup based on his/her medical condition. Mucolite LS Syrup may cause common side effects such as nausea, vomiting, indigestion, diarrhoea, headache, dry mouth or throat. Most of these side effects of Mucolite LS Syrup do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If your child is allergic to Mucolite LS Syrup or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If your child is suffering from fits or has a history of fits, please inform the doctor before using Mucolite LS Syrup as it may increase the risk of recurrent fits. Keep your doctor informed about your child’s health condition and medications to rule out any interactions/side effects.

If your child has kidney, liver or heart problems, inform your doctor before using Mucolite LS Syrup.

• Avoid dairy products such as milk, as it may increase mucus production. Also, avoid processed or refined foods.
• Replace baked foods, fried foods, white bread, white pasta, french fries, sugary desserts and chips with green leafy vegetables.
• Give your child plenty of fluids to avoid a dry throat. It also helps loosen mucus.
• Avoid citrus fruits as they may worsen the cough.
• Let your child have fruits rich in water content, such as pears, watermelon, peaches and pineapples.
