About LZ-D 15/5 Tablet

LZ-D 15/5 Tablet belongs to a class of drugs called 'antacids' used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). Peptic ulcers are sores that develop on the inner lining of the intestine and stomach. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is characterized by the formation of tumours in the upper part of the small intestine, which leads to excess acid production.

LZ-D 15/5 Tablet is a combination of two medicines, namely: 'Domperidone' and 'Lansoprazole'. Domperidone increases food movement in the stomach, which helps avoid the problems related to indigestion, bloating, and fullness. This medicine also restricts the action of a chemical that is responsible for the feeling of vomiting and nausea. On the other side, Lansoprazole works by blocking the action of proton pumps that are involved in producing stomach acid. Thereby, LZ-D 15/5 Tablet reduces the amount of acid produced by the stomach and prevents excess acid from flowing back into the food pipe. Thus, both medicines in combination provide relief from heartburn symptoms related to acid reflux.

Take LZ-D 15/5 Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take LZ-D 15/5 Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may experience diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, stomach pain, or constipation in some cases. Most of these side effects of LZ-D 15/5 Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to LZ-D 15/5 Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. LZ-D 15/5 Tablet is not recommended for children as the safety and effectiveness were not established. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking LZ-D 15/5 Tablet . Drive only if you are alert as LZ-D 15/5 Tablet may cause drowsiness. Avoid alcohol consumption as it may lead to increased stomach acid production, thereby increasing acidity and heartburn. LZ-D 15/5 Tablet is safe to be used by elderly persons, and no dosage adjustments are required.

Yes, smoking and alcohol can increase acidity and contribute to GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). Smoking is a major cause of GERD, while alcohol primarily triggers acid reflux episodes. Both smoking and alcohol can weaken the lower oesophageal sphincter, the muscle that keeps acid in the stomach, allowing it to flow back into the oesophagus. Smoking also reduces the amount of saliva that helps neutralize acid in the oesophagus, while alcohol can irritate the lining of both the stomach and the oesophagus. It is advisable to limit or avoid smoking and alcohol to help manage acidity and GERD.
