Polmacoxib

About Polmacoxib

Polmacoxib is used to relieve signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. Osteoarthritis is a joint disease in which the two ends of the joints come together due to the breakdown of a protective covering called cartilage.

Polmacoxib contains Polmacoxib, which works by inhibiting the cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme in the body. This enzyme is involved in producing certain chemical substances called prostaglandins that cause pain and swelling. Thus, it helps relieve pain and swelling.

Take Polmacoxib as prescribed. Your doctor will advise you on how often you take Polmacoxib based on your medical condition. Sometimes, Polmacoxib may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, dizziness, stomach pain, gas, constipation or diarrhoea. Most of these side effects of Polmacoxib do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to sulphonamides, polmacoxib, aspirin, or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, please tell your doctor. Polmacoxib is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Polmacoxib should be used with caution in patients with diabetes, bronchial asthma, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, history of oedema, peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding.

    Diet & Lifestyle Advise

    • Maintain a healthy body weight, as obesity may cause joint pains. Do not go for heavy exercise as it may increase your joint pain in arthritis.
    • Instead, you can do stretching and low-impact aerobic exercises like walking on a treadmill, bike riding, and swimming. You can also strengthen your muscles by lifting light weights.
    • Include more glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, Vitamin D, and calcium-enriched supplements. Besides this, turmeric and fish oils can help in reducing inflammation in the tissue.
    • In the chronic conditions of arthritis or joint pain, try to include fish like salmon, trout, tuna, and sardines. These fishes are enriched with omega-3 fatty acids, which help reduce inflammation (redness and swelling).
    • Your sitting posture is important, especially when you have pain and inflammation conditions. Try to sit as little as possible, and only for a short time (10-15 min). Use back support like a rolled-up towel at the back of your curve to minimize pain. Besides this, you can use a footrest if required.
