About Sodic Tablet

Sodic Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called alkalinising agents used to correct the acid-alkaline balance in the body. Sodic Tablet is used to treat acid indigestion, heartburn, sour stomach, and stomach upset. Sodic Tablet may also be prescribed to make the blood or urine less acidic in certain conditions.

Sodic Tablet contains ‘Sodium bicarbonate’, which helps neutralise the stomach's acidic pH. Thereby, Sodic Tablet helps to provide relief from acidity.

You are advised to take Sodic Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. Sometimes, you may experience common side effects such as dry mouth, urinating more than usual, and increased thirst. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Inform your doctor if you have high blood pressure, kidney, liver or heart disease, if you have recently had bleeding in the stomach or intestine or if you are on a low-salt diet. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning for pregnancy or breastfeeding. Sodic Tablet should not be given to children unless prescribed by the doctor. Avoid consuming alcohol, as it could elevate the production of stomach acid.

Uses of Sodic Tablet

Sodic Tablet is used in treating Heartburn, indigestion, stomach upset, and sour stomach.

Directions for Use

Tablet/Capsule: Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew or crush the tablet/capsule.Liquid/Suspension/Drops: Shake the bottle well before use. Take the prescribed dose by mouth using the measuring cup/dosing syringe/dropper provided by the pack.Powder/Sachet/Granules: Check the label for directions before use. Mix the powder/granules in water, stir well and drink immediately.

How does the drug interact with Sodic Tablet:
Taking Sodic Tablet with Gefitinib together can reduce the levels and treatment outcomes of Gefitinib.

How to manage the interaction:
Although taking Gefitinib and Sodic Tablet together can cause an interaction, it can be taken if a doctor has suggested it. Contact your doctor if your symptoms do not improve. Do not stop using any medications without talking to a doctor.

Co-administration of Sodic Tablet and Dolutegravir reduces the levels of Dolutegravir, resulting in reduced effectiveness.

How to manage the interaction:
Although taking Dolutegravir and Sodic Tablet together can result in an interaction, they can be taken together if prescribed by your doctor. However, if you experience symptoms like fever, chills, diarrhea, sore throat, muscle aches, red or inflamed skin, and pain or burning during urination, contact your doctor immediately. Do not discontinue any medications without consulting your doctor.

  • Maintain a healthy weight by regular exercising.

  • Avoid tight-fitting clothes as it might increase the pressure on the abdomen, leading to acid reflux.
  • Practise relaxation techniques and avoid stress by doing yoga or meditation.
  • Avoid foods such as high-fat, spicy food, chocolates, citrus fruits, pineapple, tomato, onion, garlic, tea, and soda.

FAQs

Sodic Tablet is an antacid that helps neutralize stomach acid during indigestion and heartburn. Sodic Tablet may also be prescribed to make the blood or urine less acidic in certain conditions.

Sodic Tablet has alkaline pH, which helps in neutralising the acidic pH in the stomach. Thereby, Sodic Tablet helps to provide relief from acidity and heartburn.

Do not take Sodic Tablet for longer than two weeks unless prescribed by the doctor. If there is no symptomatic improvement despite using Sodic Tablet for 1-2 weeks, consult your doctor.

Sodic Tablet can be taken with other medicines if prescribed by the doctor. However, you are advised to maintain a gap of 2 hours between Sodic Tablet and other medicines.

Dry mouth could be a side-effect of Sodic Tablet . Limiting caffeine intake, avoiding smoking, drinking water regularly and chewing sugar-free gum/candy might stimulate saliva and prevent drying of the mouth.

If you have kidney problems, please consult your doctor before taking Sodic Tablet as it may possibly affect kidney function.

Sodic Tablet may cause side effects such as increased thirst, stomach cramps, gas, dry mouth and urinating more than usual. If these side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Store Sodic Tablet at room temperature. Protect from light. Keep it out of reach of children.

Sodic Tablet overdose may lead to hyperventilation (over breathing), twitching, very sensitive to light stimuli and high potassium levels in the blood which may cause dizziness or tiredness. Therefore, if you suspect you have taken overdose of Sodic Tablet , please seek medical help immediately.

Pregnant women are recommended to consult their doctor before using Sodic Tablet or any antacid, as it may worsen high blood pressure during pregnancy.

Sodic Tablet should be used for as long as it is advised by your doctor. However, do not use Sodic Tablet for more than 2 weeks without consulting a doctor. If acid problems persist or worsen after 2 weeks of self-treatment, seek medical help.
