Vilof BC Ear Drop

Vilof BC Ear Drop is a combination medicine used to treat an ear infection. An ear infection mainly occurs when bacteria or other microbes infect the middle ear (air-filled space behind the eardrum).

Vilof BC Ear Drop contains Beclometasone (corticosteroid), Clotrimazole (antifungal), and Ofloxacin (antibiotic) as active ingredients. This medicine works by inhibiting the growth of microbes (bacteria and fungi) that are responsible for the spread of infection.

Vilof BC Ear Drop may cause certain side effects, such as ear discomfort, discharge, and irritation at the application site. Inform your doctor if these effects persist or worsen. Use Vilof BC Ear Drop as prescribed by your doctor.

Discontinue and inform your doctor if you observe any allergic reactions, and also if you are previously allergic to any of the components present in it. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Vilof BC Ear Drop. This medicine is not recommended for use in children unless prescribed by the paediatrician or doctor.

Vilof BC Ear Drop is used to treat ear infections. It consists of Beclometasone, Clotrimazole, and Ofloxacin. Beclometasone works by blocking the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen and itchy. Clotrimazole inhibits fungi growth by causing damage to the fungal cell membrane. Ofloxacin inhibits the bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme required for the replication, transcription and repair of the DNA.

Discontinue and inform your doctor if you observe any allergic reactions and if you are previously allergic to any of the components present in it. Let your doctor know if you have any history of liver or kidney diseases, cataracts, glaucoma, or allergic reactions before taking Vilof BC Ear Drop. It is unknown whether Vilof BC Ear Drop is safe for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers. Hence, let your doctor know if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or a lactating mother. Do not take Vilof BC Ear Drop on your own since it may lead to antibiotic resistance, failing the antibiotics to act against specific bacterial infections. Children should use Vilof BC Ear Drop only if prescribed by the doctor.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Vilof BC Ear Drop may interact with painkillers (acetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib, diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam), blood thinners (warfarin), antacids that contain calcium, magnesium, or aluminium.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Brief your doctor if you have a medical history of allergic reactions to medicines, liver diseases, and glaucoma before using Vilof BC Ear Drop.

• Take care of your allergies proactively. Take your medication and be aware of the start of your allergy season(s). 
• Apply a nasal wash each day, barring an ear infection. 
• Hand washing is a good way to prevent upper respiratory infections, which are often linked to ear infections.
• Giving up smoking can help lower the risk of ear and respiratory infections.
• Removing and drying ears after swimming, avoiding using cotton swabs, washing hands frequently, and maintaining general hygiene can prevent ear infections.
