About Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule

Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule belongs to a class of drugs called 'antacids' used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). Peptic ulcers are sores that develop on the inner lining of the intestine and stomach. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is characterized by the formation of tumours in the upper part of the small intestine, which leads to excess acid production.

Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule is a combination of two medicines, namely: 'Domperidone' and 'Lansoprazole'. Domperidone increases food movement in the stomach, which helps avoid the problems related to indigestion, bloating, and fullness. This medicine also restricts the action of a chemical that is responsible for the feeling of vomiting and nausea. On the other side, Lansoprazole works by blocking the action of proton pumps that are involved in producing stomach acid. Thereby, Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule reduces the amount of acid produced by the stomach and prevents excess acid from flowing back into the food pipe. Thus, both medicines in combination provide relief from heartburn symptoms related to acid reflux.

Take Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may experience diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, stomach pain, or constipation in some cases. Most of these side effects of Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule is not recommended for children as the safety and effectiveness were not established. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule. Drive only if you are alert as Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule may cause drowsiness. Avoid alcohol consumption as it may lead to increased stomach acid production, thereby increasing acidity and heartburn. Ulsec DM 10mg/30mg Capsule is safe to be used by elderly persons, and no dosage adjustments are required.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): The stomach is usually protected from the acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets irritated or eroded, which leads to complications like GERD, hyperacidity, peptic ulcers, and heartburn. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn. Symptoms include heartburn, sour or bitter taste in the mouth, and difficulty swallowing.

Peptic ulcers: These are sores that develop on the stomach and intestine lining due to erosion of the stomach protective lining. Symptoms include nausea, appetite changes, bloody or dark stools, unexplained weight loss, vomiting, and indigestion.

Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: It is characterized by the formation of tumours in the upper part of the small intestine, which leads to excess acid production. Symptoms include bloating, burping, weight loss, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting.
