About Teltoss-Trio 12.5 Tablet

Teltoss-Trio 12.5 Tablet is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke in adults. Hypertension is a condition in which the force of blood against the artery walls is very high. It will be an addition to the workload of the heart and arteries.

Teltoss-Trio 12.5 Tablet is a combination of three drugs, namely: Chlorthalidone (diuretic), Cilnidipine (calcium channel blocker), and Telmisartan (angiotensin II receptor blocker). Chlorthalidone belongs to the class of diuretics (water tablets) that work by increasing the removal of excess water and certain salts, such as sodium and potassium, from the blood. This removal of water from blood reduces the fluid volume circulating through blood vessels and improves blood flow. Cilnidipine is a calcium channel blocker that acts on muscle cells in the artery walls and relaxes muscle cells. Thereby, it relaxes and widens arteries (blood vessels) and improves the blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart. Telmisartan works by blocking a hormone called angiotensin II in the body that causes the narrowing of blood vessels leading to high blood pressure. Thereby, Teltoss-Trio 12.5 Tablet widens and relaxes blood vessels. Thus, it lowers high blood pressure.

Take Teltoss-Trio 12.5 Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Teltoss-Trio 12.5 Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. Disease/Condition Glossary

Blood pressure is the measurement of the heart's force to pump blood to all parts of the body. Hypertension is a chronic condition in which blood pressure is too high. This condition can lead to hardened arteries (blood vessels), decreasing the blood and oxygen flow to the heart. Raised blood pressure can cause chest pain (angina) and heart attack (when the blood supply to the heart is blocked). Additionally, high blood pressure also causes brain damage (stroke) and kidney failure. High blood pressure can be diagnosed with the help of a blood pressure monitor or sphygmomanometer. Systolic pressure is the pressure when the heart pumps blood out. On the other hand, diastolic pressure is when your heart is at the resting stage between heartbeats. If your blood pressure is 140/90 mm of Hg, it means the systolic pressure is 140 mm of Hg and, diastolic pressure is 90 mm of Hg. Normal blood pressure lies between 90/60 mm of Hg and 120/80 mm of Hg. If the blood pressure is 140/90 mmHg or greater, it is considered high blood pressure.
