Piles: Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are the inflamed and swollen veins in the rectum and anus that cause discomfort, pain, and bleeding. Haemorrhoids can be external or internal. Internal haemorrhoids develop within the rectum and anus, whereas external haemorrhoids develop outside of the anus region. Piles cause pain, itching and bleeding. They also cause trouble in sitting. Haemorrhoids are not life-threatening; they often go away on their own. Symptoms include itching, irritation, pain around the anus, swelling near the anus region, painful bowel movements, and blood in stools.
Anal fissure: Anal fissure is a small tear in the mucosa that lines the anus that causes pain and bleeding during or after a bowel movement. Anal fissures generally heal independently, and if the condition lasts for more than 8 weeks, it can be considered chronic. Sometimes, surgery may also be needed depending on the condition. Symptoms include tears of skin around the anus region, burning sensation, pain, and blood during a bowel movement.
