In some cases, Oestrogel may cause side effects such as headache, breast pain or tenderness, diarrhoea, gas and heartburn. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Do not use Oestrogel if you are allergic to any of its components. Inform your doctor if you have/had a hysterectomy (surgery to remove the uterus), abnormal or unusual vaginal bleeding, heart attack, stroke, breast cancer, blood clots, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or fat, diabetes, heart disease, breast lumps, lupus (the body attacks its own tissues causing damage and swelling), asthma, migraine headache, seizures, uterine fibroids (growths in the uterus that are non-cancerous), endometriosis (growth of the womb lining outside the womb), yellowing of the skin and eyes, very high/low levels of calcium, gallbladder, pancreas, thyroid, liver or kidney problems, porphyria (a condition in which abnormal substances build up in the blood and cause problems with the skin or nervous system) or if you smoke.
Drug-Drug Interactions: Inform your doctor if you are taking anti-fungal (itraconazole, ketoconazole), anti-convulsant (carbamazepine, phenobarbital), antibiotic (clarithromycin, erythromycin, rifampin), statins (lovastatin), anti-retroviral (ritonavir), medicines for thyroid disease, and herbal supplement (St. John's wort).
