Treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery

Medicinal Benefits

Notisym LB Tablet belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat diarrhoea and dysentery of bacterial, amoebic or mixed origins. Notisym LB Tablet is a combination of three drugs, namely: Norfloxacin, Tinidazole, and Lactobacillus. Norfloxacin prevents the bacteria from repairing and reproducing themselves. Tinidazole kills bacteria by damaging their DNA. Due to antibiotic intake, a large amount of beneficial bacteria gets destroyed, so Lactobacillus helps in balancing the number of beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract (gut) to manage water loss (diarrhoea) due to antibiotics or infections. Lactobacillus also helps in the treatment of diarrhoea (water loss) and cramps caused due to harmful E. Coli bacteria. Notisym LB Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Notisym LB Tablet is a combination medication containing two antibiotics, Norfloxacin and Tinidazole, and a probiotic, Lactobacillus. Together, they treat diarrhoea and dysentery of bacterial, amoebic, or mixed origins.
The common side effects of Notisym LB Tablet include abdominal cramps, nausea, headache, dry mouth, and dizziness. These side effects are usually mild and tend to resolve on their own over time. However, if they persist or become bothersome, please consult your doctor.
Notisym LB Tablet is generally safe when used as directed by a healthcare provider. However, like all medications, it may cause side effects in some people. It is essential to inform your doctor if you have any pre-existing conditions, such as muscle disorders, liver problems, kidney and heart issues, or a history of allergies, as these can affect how the medication works or lead to unpleasant interactions. If you have any concerns about its safety, consult your doctor for guidance.
Yes, Notisym LB Tablet can sometimes cause a metallic taste in the mouth as a side effect. This occurs because the medication may affect your taste buds, leading to bitter or metallic taste sensations. The symptom is generally temporary and should disappear once you finish the medication. However, if it becomes uncomfortable or persists, please consult your doctor.
No, you should not take a higher dose of Notisym LB Tablet than recommended. Taking more than the prescribed amount can increase the risk of side effects and may not improve the effectiveness of the treatment. Additionally, it may contribute to antibiotic resistance, making future infections harder to treat. If you feel the medication is not working as expected or if you have concerns, consult your doctor for proper guidance instead of adjusting the dose on your own.
Notisym LB Tablet is contraindicated in individuals who are allergic to any of its ingredients or who have tendon rupture or tendonitis. People with myasthenia gravis should avoid Notisym LB Tablet, as it may worsen muscle weakness. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are contraindicated from using Notisym LB Tablet. Furthermore, alcohol consumption is contraindicated during the use of Notisym LB Tablet due to the potential for increased dizziness. Always consult your doctor before using this medication if you have any concerns.
Yes, Notisym LB Tablet can increase the risk of tendon rupture, especially because of Norfloxacin (one of its ingredients). The risk is higher in people over 60, those taking corticosteroids, and those with certain health problems like muscle disorders (myasthenia gravis), kidney disease, or heart issues. Tendon ruptures usually happen in the Achilles tendon (near the ankle) but can affect other tendons, too. If you notice pain, swelling, or inflammation in your tendons, especially your lower legs, contact your doctor immediately. Your doctor may advise you to stop the medication and provide appropriate treatment.
If you don't get better after using Notisym LB Tablet, it is important to contact your doctor. This medication effectively treats infections, but if your symptoms persist, it could mean the infection is resistant to the treatment, or there might be another underlying cause. Your doctor may need to reassess your condition and consider other treatment options. Do not stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once to make up for a missed dose.
