About MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET

MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET belongs to a class of antianginals, which is used to treat angina pectoris. Angina pectoris is discomfort in the chest or chest pain, which generally occurs due to coronary artery disease (CAD) when an adequate amount of oxygen and blood is not reaching the heart and its muscles. It can also be due to the blockage of the heart's arteries. It helps prevent any further attack of angina by making the heart work more efficiently.

MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET is a combination of medication containing Isosorbide Mononitrate and aspirin. Isosorbide Mononitrate is a powerful vasodilator (widens blood vessels). It works by forming the free radical nitric oxide (NO) inside our body which leads to relaxation of the muscles of blood vessels, especially of the heart leading to proper blood flow towards the heart muscle, which has been working under immense pressure due to decreased blood flow to it. Aspirin has an antithrombotic action that interferes with platelet functioning and does not let them stick together, thus helping to prevent or reduce blood clots. Altogether, MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET is helpful in treating and preventing episodes of angina.

Take MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET as prescribed by the doctor. The dose of MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET can vary depending upon your condition and the severity of the condition. Also, it is recommended to complete the course of medicine even if you feel better. The common side effects of MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET include increased bleeding tendency, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache, indigestion, dizziness, and itching. In case of any discomfort, speak with a doctor.

Take MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET only if the doctor prescribes you. Never encourage self-medication or suggest your medicine to someone else. You should not take MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET if you have severe anemia, low blood volume, gout, severe kidney or liver problems, blood clotting disorder, or ulcer in the stomach or intestine. Also, do not take MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET if you are taking medicines like methotrexate(for cancer) and medicines for erectile dysfunction such as sildenafil, vardenafil, and tadalafil. Check with your doctor if you're pregnant, currently breastfeeding, or taking any other prescribed or non-prescribed medicines. Also, do not stop MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET abruptly, as it may lead to severe side effects. Avoid alcohol consumption as it might lead to very low blood pressure.

Medicinal Benefits

MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET belongs to a class of medicines called antianginal. It is a combination of medication containing Isosorbide Mononitrate and aspirin. Isosorbide Mononitrate is a powerful vasodilator that operates by relaxing the blood vessels of the heart, reducing the stress on the heart and making it easier to pump blood. Angina usually feels like tight chest pain, neck or arm area. The pain originates from the heart muscle and is a sign that part of it is not getting enough oxygen for the amount of work it is doing. Aspirin works as an antithrombotic action that affects platelet functioning and does not let them stick together, thus helping to prevent or reduce blood clots. As a combination medication, MONOSPRIN 30MG TABLET reduces the risk of further heart attack or stokes or of dying from one of these atherothrombotic events.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Angina: Angina or chest pain is the most common indication of heart disease caused due to decreased blood flow to heart muscles. The heart is dependent on oxygen for its functioning and pumping of blood, yet sometimes due to various genetic and environmental reasons, the blood vessels supplying blood to the heart narrow unexpectedly, causing decreased blood flow to the heart. This abrupt decrease in blood flow leads to increased stress on the heart to pump blood towards different organs, causing an event of acute chest pain that starts from the arm along the jaw and finally involves the chest. Angina pectoris is of 3 types:

1) Stable Angina: It is the most common type in which blood flow to the heart is low compared to what it needs to function, caused by increased physical activity.

2) Unstable Angina: It is the most lethal type in which blood supply to the heart decreases abruptly due to blockage of an artery by a clot etc.

3) Variant Angina: It occurs at rest due to spasmodic narrowing of the artery.
