Maxtra Syrup is a combination medicine indicated as a nasal decongestant and anti-allergic in paediatric patients. It provides relief from symptoms of a cold, such as runny nose, stuffy nose, sneezing, itching of nose and throat, itchy/watery eyes, nasal congestion, and nasal passage swelling.

Maxtra Syrup contains Chlorpheniramine and Phenylephrine. Chlorpheniramine relieves allergy/cold symptoms. Phenylephrine provides relief from congestion. Together, Maxtra Syrup provides relief from cold.

In some cases, Maxtra Syrup may cause side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, nausea and vomiting. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, consult the doctor.

Do not use Maxtra Syrup if your child is allergic to any of its components. Inform the doctor if your child has heart, kidney or liver problems. Let the doctor know if your child is on any other medicines, including supplements or herbal products.

• Make sure your child is hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
• Gargling with warm salt water may help remove mucus and soothe the throat.
• Avoid exposing the child to irritants such as dust and smoke.
• Include fibre-rich foods, vegetables and fruits in your child’s diet.
• Keep the child away from people with colds. Remind the child to avoid touching the eyes, mouth or throat.
• Teach the child to wash hands frequently.
