About Mahacef OZ Tablet

Mahacef OZ Tablet belongs to the group of 'antibacterial medications,' primarily used to treat bacterial infections. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria enter, multiply and infect the body. They can target any part of the body and multiply very quickly. These infections vary from minor illnesses like sore throat and ear infections to severe brain infections like meningitis and encephalitis.

Mahacef OZ Tablet contains an antibiotic combination, Cefixime and Ornidazole, primarily used to treat bacterial infections. Cefixime binds to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, causing the inhibition of the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis, arresting cell wall assembly resulting in bacterial cell death. Ornidazole kills other infectious microorganisms in addition to bacteria by damaging their DNA, does preventing the bacteria to reproduce or repair by themselves.

In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dizziness, tremors, headache, diarrhoea, stomach pain, flatulence. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Before starting Mahacef OZ Tablet , please inform your doctor if you have any allergy (against these antibiotics), kidney or liver problems. Do not take Mahacef OZ Tablet on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. Consult your doctor before taking Mahacef OZ Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Mahacef OZ Tablet as it may cause increased dizziness. Mahacef OZ Tablet may cause dizziness and vision problems, so be cautious while driving. Mahacef OZ Tablet is not recommended for use in children.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Probiotics should be taken after taking the full course of Mahacef OZ Tablet to restore some of the healthy bacteria in the intestines that may have been killed. Taking probiotics after antibiotic treatment can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Certain fermented foods like yogurt, cheese, sauerkraut, kombucha, and kimchi can help restore the intestine's good bacteria.
  • Include more fibre-enriched food in your diet, as it can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. • Avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with Mahacef OZ Tablet as it can make you dehydrated and affect your sleep. This can make it harder for your body to aid the Mahacef OZ Tablet in fighting off infections.

  • Cefixime in Mahacef OZ Tablet may cause live bacterial vaccines (such as typhoid vaccine) to not work as well. Do not have any immunization/vaccinations while using this medication unless your doctor tells you to.
