Lom 0.3% Eye Drop

Lom 0.3% Eye Drop belongs to a group of antibiotic medicines called fluoroquinolones for treating bacterial eye infections such as bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, and blepharitis. Additionally, it is also used to treat corneal ulcers and keratitis.

Lom 0.3% Eye Drop contains Lomefloxacin, that works by interfering with the bacterial DNA processes which are necessary for their survival. Thereby, Lom 0.3% Eye Drop kills the bacteria and helps treat bacterial infection.

In some cases, Lom 0.3% Eye Drop may cause side effects like local irritation or a slight and transient burning sensation immediately after using eye drops. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to the doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Do not use Lom 0.3% Eye Drop if you are allergic to any of its components. Consult the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid touching the tip of the dropper as it may contaminate the contents. Keep your doctor informed regarding your health condition and the medicines you are taking to prevent any side effects/interactions.

Lom 0.3% Eye Drop contains Lomefloxacin, a difluorinated quinolone derivative, is a bacterial gyrase inhibitor used to treat bacterial eye infections such as bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, and blepharitis occurring due to lomefloxacin susceptible organisms. Additionally, it is also used to treat staphylococcus aureus-induced corneal ulcers. Lom 0.3% Eye Drop works by interfering with the bacterial DNA processes like initiation, elongation, and termination phases of replication, transcription, and repair. Thereby, Lom 0.3% Eye Drop kills the bacteria and helps treat bacterial infection. It is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Do not use Lom 0.3% Eye Drop if you are allergic to any of its components. Seek medical advice from the doctor before using Lom 0.3% Eye Drop if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. To avoid reduction of efficacy, eye preparations containing heavy metals such as zinc and copper should not be used within 15 minutes of using Lom 0.3% Eye Drop. Also, bacteriostatic ophthalmic antibiotics should not be used concomitantly (simultaneously) with Lom 0.3% Eye Drop. Let the doctor know if you are using any other eye medications.

• Wash your hands regularly. Avoid touching the eyes with dirty hands. 
• Avoid rubbing the eyes.
• Avoid sharing eye makeup such as eyeliner, mascara or kohl.
• Always use clean towels or tissues to wipe your eyes and face.
• Regularly wash and change the pillowcases.
• If you wear contact lens: Clean and replace contact lens more often. Never share contact lens. Remember to wash your hands before inserting and after removing the contact lens. 
• Avoid staring at the digital screens for longer durations. Rest your eyes for every 20 minutes.
• Blink regularly as it helps in the spread of hydrating substances such as mucus and tears across the eyes.

• Intensive exposure to sunlight or UV radiation should be avoided during treatment with Lom 0.3% Eye Drop. 
• Avoid wearing contact lenses during eye infection.

Bacterial eye infections: Bacterial eye infection occurs when harmful bacteria invade any part of the eye, such as the eyeball, conjunctiva, or cornea. Symptoms of an infection include red eye, pain, discharge, watery/dry eyes, swelling, itching, and sensitivity to light. 

Bacterial conjunctivitis: Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is the infection/inflammation of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid. Symptoms are red eyes, discharge, itching, irritation, and discomfort.

Blepharitis: It is a condition that occurs when the oil glands of the inner eyelid become inflamed. The inflammation of the eyelid affects the tear production and eyelashes. Symptoms include red/itchy eyelids that seem greasy and crusted.

Blepharoconjunctivitis: Blepharoconjunctivitis is a combination of blepharitis and conjunctivitis. It is characterised by an inflamed eyelid margin and surrounding conjunctiva.

Corneal ulcers: It is an open sore on the cornea occurring due to infection. Symptoms include severe eye pain, red, watery eyes, pus or other eye discharge.

Keratitis: It is a condition in which the cornea (clear tissue on the front of the eye) is inflamed. Keratitis is caused by injury, infection, wearing contact lenses for too long, or any diseases. Symptoms include blurred or decreased vision, pain, and redness.
