Fungirid Ear Drops 5 ml is used to treat bacterial and fungal infections of the ear. An ear infection occurs when bacteria or fungi affect the middle or outer ear, leading to pain and inflammation. Ear infections can be painful due to inflammation and fluid build-up.
Fungirid Ear Drops 5 ml is a combination of four drugs, namely: Beclomethasone (corticosteroid), Clotrimazole (antifungal), Lidocaine (local anaesthetic), and Gentamicin (antibiotic). Beclomethasone works by inhibiting the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling. Thereby reducing the redness and swelling caused due to bacterial infections. Clotrimazole works by damaging the fungal cell membranes and killing fungi. Lidocaine decreases pain sensation by preventing pain signals from reaching the brain. Gentamicin works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers. Thereby, it destroys bacteria.

Also, ear infections occur when the Eustachian tubes (small tubes that run from each ear to the back of the throat) become blocked or swollen. Infection of the middle ear (air-filled space behind the eardrum) is known as otitis media. In contrast, the external/outer ear canal inflammation that runs from the eardrum to the outside of the head is known as otitis externa.
