Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml belongs to a group of medicines called 'antipsychotics/neuroleptics,' primarily used to treat psychotic disorders like schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a mental condition in which the person may feel, hear or see things that are not there (hallucinations), believe things that are not true, and feel unusually suspicious or confused. 

Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml contains 'Fluphenazine' that belongs to the class of phenothiazines. It works by affecting the balance of the neurotransmitters in the brain. Thereby, Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml decreases psychotic symptoms like hallucinations, delusions, and hostility (unfriendly or opposed behaviour) associated with schizophrenia. Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml is intended for use in the management of patients requiring prolonged parenteral antipsychotic therapy.

Your doctor will decide the dose and duration based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Common side effects of Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml include lethargy/tiredness, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, loss of appetite, dry mouth, constipation, stuffy nose, sweating, weight changes, and pain/redness/swelling at the injection site. These side effects are not familiar to everyone and vary individually. If you notice any side effects that are not manageable, please consult your doctor.

Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml is not recommended for treatment in patients with dementia-related psychosis. Inform your doctor before starting Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml if you have a history of liver/kidney/heart diseases, breathing problems, blood cell disorder, Parkinson's disease, glaucoma, breast cancer, depression, or fits. If you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or a breastfeeding mother, inform your doctor before starting Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml. Avoid consuming alcohol while being treated with Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml as it can make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive or operate machinery since it can make you sleepy and interfere with your driving ability. Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml is not approved for children younger than 12 years of age.

Avoid consuming alcohol during the treatment, as it might lead to increased dizziness and drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery, as this medicine may decrease your mental alertness, making you feel dizzy or drowsy. Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml is not recommended for children below 12 years of age as safety and effectiveness have not been established.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml may interact with anti-hypertensives (clonidine), opioid pain relievers (codeine, hydrocodone), anti-anxiety drugs (alprazolam, lorazepam), muscle relaxants (carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine), anti-allergic drugs (cetirizine), common cold medicines (diphenhydramine), antidepressants (lithium), and heart-related drugs (quinidine).

Drug-Food Interaction: Do not consume alcohol while undergoing treatment with Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml, as it could lead to increased dizziness and drowsiness.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml is not recommended in dementia-related psychosis, comatose or severely depressed states, patients receiving large doses of hypnotics, subcortical brain damage, and allergic reactions to Fluphenazine.

• Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.
• Try to avoid stress by practising meditation or yoga.
• Include fruits and vegetables in your diet as they contain antioxidants.
• Eat nutritious food as it helps in cognitive stimulation.
• Limit foods with high cholesterol and saturated fats.
• Cut down on sugar, salt and processed foods.
• Drink plenty of water.
• Follow a regular sleep pattern.

This medicine may interfere with tests for pregnancy and phenylketonuria and some urine tests. Let your doctor or laboratory staff know you are taking Flunpez 25 mg Injection 1 ml if you undergo other medical examinations.
