Defrijet 500 Tablet is used to treat iron overload due to transfusional hemosiderosis (the accumulation of iron in the body due to frequent blood transfusions) or non-transfusion-dependent thalassemia (patients who do not require lifelong regular transfusions for survival). It works by binding to the extra iron and facilitates its removal from the body through faeces. In some cases, this medicine may cause side effects like diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, and skin rashes.
