Cortel AZ 40/8 Tablet is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a medical condition in which the blood pressure is elevated persistently in the arteries. High blood pressure is mostly caused by obesity, diabetes, smoking, high salt intake, stress, lack of physical activity or ageing.

Cortel AZ 40/8 Tablet is composed of Azelnidipine and Telmisartan. Azelnidipine blocks the activity of the calcium channels present in the blood vessels of the heart. As a result, the blood vessels widen, and the blood supply to the heart increases. Thereby lowering the elevated blood pressure and the workload placed on the heart. Telmisartan works by blocking the action of angiotensin receptors, thereby allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and making the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Together, Cortel AZ 40/8 Tablet helps in treating hypertension.

Take Cortel AZ 40/8 Tablet as prescribed. The doctor will adjust the dose according to your medical condition and response to the treatment. Common side effects of Cortel AZ 40/8 Tablet include dizziness, diarrhoea, headache and nausea. • Do regular physical activity or exercise for at least 150 minutes per week, or about 30 minutes most days of the week. Doing this can help lower your raised blood pressure by about 5 mm Hg.

• Opt for a diet rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products.

• Limit sodium chloride (table salt) intake in your daily diet.

• If you are taking alcohol, only one serving for women and two servings for men is advisable.
