About Chlorosol 1% Sofaps

Chlorosol 1% Sofaps belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections of the eye. Bacterial eye infection occurs when harmful bacteria invade any part of the eye, such as the eyeball, conjunctiva, or cornea. 
 
Chlorosol 1% Sofaps contains Chloramphenicol, which works by preventing the synthesis of nutrients essential for bacterial survival. Thus, it kills bacteria and treats bacterial eye infections.
 
Sometimes, you may experience side effects such as mild eye irritation, stinging sensation, and temporary blurred vision. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
 
Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Chlorosol 1% Sofaps should be used in children above 2 years only if prescribed by the doctor. Directions for Use

Eye drops: Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Instil the number of drops advised by the doctor into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.Eye ointment/cream/gel: Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Squeeze a tiny amount of the cream/ointment/gel into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.Aplicap/Eye ointment capsule: Check the label for directions before use. Wipe the tip with alcohol, cut the end with a clean instrument and compress the body to squeeze out the contents into the pocket of the lower eyelid.

Drug Warnings

Do not use Chlorosol 1% Sofaps if you are allergic to any of its components. Inform your doctor if you or your family member has had problems with their blood or bone marrow if you have visual disturbances, severe pain in the eye, sensitivity to light, glaucoma, eye injury, dry eyes, kidney or liver problems, a sensation of having a foreign body in the eye, eye inflammation, if the eye looks cloudy or if the coloured part of the eye looks unusual, or if you have/had eye surgery. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not wear contact lenses during the course of treatment with Chlorosol 1% Sofaps and for 24 hours after the last dose.

  • Wash your hands regularly. Avoid touching the eyes with dirty hands. 
  • Avoid rubbing the eyes.
  • Avoid sharing eye makeup such as eyeliner, mascara or kohl.
  • Always use clean towels or tissues to wipe your eyes and face.
  • Regularly wash and change the pillowcases.
  • If you wear contact lenses: Clean and replace contact lenses more often. Never share contact lenses. Remember to wash your hands before inserting and after removing the contact lens. 
  • Avoid staring at digital screens for longer durations. Rest your eyes every 20 minutes.
  • Blink regularly as it helps spread hydrating substances such as mucus and tears across the eyes.

How Chlorosol 1% Sofaps Works

Chlorosol 1% Sofaps consists of a drug called torsemide. It works by increasing the amount of urine that is passed out from the kidneys. It effectively reduces excess fluids in the body and treats oedema (swelling) associated with heart, liver, kidney, or lung disease. This also reduces the workload on the heart and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Thus, it helps to lower high blood pressure, reducing the chances of heart attack or stroke.

What if I have taken an overdose of Chlorosol 1% Sofaps

Please do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. Using more medication will not improve your symptoms; instead, they may cause serious side effects or poisoning. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed. Seek emergency medical attention or call your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms or if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medication.
