GLYCOPYRROLATE+NEOSTIGMINE belongs to a group of medicines called 'anticholinesterase agents/acetylcholinesterase inhibitors', primarily used to reverse the effects of muscle relaxant and anesthesia medicines used during surgery. Certain medicines like propofol, etomidate, ketamine which is an anesthetic medicine cause anesthesia (sedative action) during surgery. Several muscles relaxant medicines are also used during surgery like vecuronium, rocuronium relaxes the muscles during surgery.

GLYCOPYRROLATE+NEOSTIGMINE contains two medicines namely: Glycopyrrolate and Neostigmine. Neostigmine increases levels of a substance known as acetylcholine by stopping an enzyme required for the breakdown of acetylcholine involved in transmission between nerve impulses and muscle movements. It is used at the end of surgery to reverse the effects of several medicines used during surgery like anesthetics and muscle relaxants. Glycopyrrolate is an anticholinergic It works by blocking the activity of a chemical messenger (acetylcholine) in the brain. It is added to avoid the unwanted effects of Neostigmine like stomach acid, excess saliva production and decreased heart rate.
