Pepfiz Orange Tablet is indicated for symptomatic relief from heartburn, flatulence (gas) and dyspepsia (indigestion). It contains Fungal Diastase, Papain, and Simethicone. Fungal Diastase is a starch-degrading enzyme. It helps digest starch and carbohydrates from the diet into simple polysaccharides and sugar. Papain is an enzyme that digests protein and catalyses the breakdown of proteins by hydrolysis. It is sparingly soluble in water. On the other hand, Simethicone is an anti-foaming agent that decreases the surface tension of gas bubbles, causing them to combine into larger bubbles in the stomach that can be passed more easily. It increases the rate at which gas exits the body. Thus, it relieves gas, heartburn, flatulence and indigestion.
