About Nazone Nasal Spray

Nazone Nasal Spray is used in the treatment of nasal congestion in children. Nasal congestion /stuffy nose can be defined as the swelling of the tissue lining due to the inflammation of the blood vessels inside the nose. This causes difficulty for your child in breathing. Nazone Nasal Spray helps provide relief from stuffy noses caused by various allergic reactions in children. It helps to relieve discomfort and unpleasant symptoms, like blocked/runny nose, that occur due to allergic conditions, cold and flu-like symptoms, and hay fever.

Nazone Nasal Spray contains Xylometazoline belonging to the class of 'decongestants'. It works by narrowing the blood vessels (vasoconstriction) and thus provides temporary relief from nasal congestion and blockage. This helps your child to breathe more easily.

Nazone Nasal Spray may cause certain side effects, such as nasal dryness, headache, diarrhoea, mild irritation at the application site, and headache. These side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your pediatrician. Nazone Nasal Spray should be used as advised by your doctor. 

Nazone Nasal Spray is intended for pediatric use only. Avoid giving Nazone Nasal Spray if your child is allergic to it. Keep your doctor informed about your child’s health condition, including his current medications and medical history, to rule out any side effects/interactions. Inform your paediatrician if your child has undergone any recent trans-nasal surgery (brain surgery where the operation was carried out through the nose or mouth), has any history of narrow-angle glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis (chronic nasal inflammation with dry nasal passages), liver/kidney disease as this medicine is contraindicated in such children. Nazone Nasal Spray is not recommended for use in infants below one year of age as the safety and efficacy are not established. This medicine is used for nasal application only. Avoid the application of Nazone Nasal Spray for other uses.

Directions for Use

Nazone Nasal Spray should be used as advised by your paediatrician. Firstly, clear your child’s nose by blowing gently. Make your child lie with their head lower than their shoulders. Press the bottle gently, lower the nozzle a little into each nostril, and apply 2 to 4 drops or as your paediatrician recommends. Remain still for a few minutes. Make sure you close the bottle tight once you are done using Nazone Nasal Spray .

Drug Warnings

Nazone Nasal Spray should be avoided if he or she is allergic to it or any other components present in it. Inform your paediatrician if your child has undergone any recent trans-nasal surgery (performed through the nose or mouth), has any history of narrow-angle glaucoma (increased ocular pressure), atrophic rhinitis (chronic nasal inflammation with dry nasal passages), liver/kidney disease as this medicine is contraindicated in such children. Nazone Nasal Spray is not recommended for use in infants below one year of age as the safety and efficacy are not established.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Nazone Nasal Spray may interact with certain medicines such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (eg: isocarboxazid, seligiline), tricyclic antidepresents (eg: amitryptiline, Nortriptyline, imipramine

  • Make your child drink more fluids to avoid dehydration.
