Mecobal Plus Capsule contains nutritional supplements used to treat neuropathic pain, diabetic neuropathy, alcoholic neuropathy, trigeminal neuralgia, and drug-induced neuropathy. It may also treat sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, muscle pain, low back pain, and cramps. Neuropathic pain is a chronic progressive nerve disease that causes nerve pain. Symptoms include spontaneous, untriggered pain, shooting, burning or stabbing pain, and difficulty resting or sleeping.

Mecobal Plus Capsule consists of four supplements: Alpha-lipoic acid, Folic acid, Mecobalamin and Pyridoxine Hydrochloride. Alpha-lipoic acid is an antioxidant that prevents oxidative stress, thereby helping to provide a protective effect on the nerve tissues and the brain. Folic acid helps in providing essential nutrients to the nerves. Mecobalamin and Pyridoxine Hydrochloride help rejuvenate and protect damaged nerve cells by producing a substance called myelin. Together, Mecobal Plus Capsule helps in providing relief from neuropathic pain.

Take Mecobal Plus Capsule as recommended. Sometimes, you may experience common side effects such as stomach upset, diarrhoea, sleepiness, nausea, and vomiting. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Mecobal Plus Capsule may have interaction with antibiotic (e.g. chloramphenicol), inorganic compound (e.g. arsenic trioxide), anti-diabetic (e.g. insulin, metformin), hormone (e.g. levothyroxine), anti-cancer (e.g. altretamine), anti-convulsant (e.g. phenobarbital, phenytoin), and anti-Parkinson’s (e.g. levodopa).

Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking Mecobal Plus Capsule as it might cause increased sleepiness.

Drug-Disease Interactions: Mecobal Plus Capsule may interact with disease conditions such as malabsorption, epilepsy, anaemia, and alcoholism.

Neuropathic pain: Neuropathic pain is caused due to damaged sensory nerves. It is caused by chronic progressive nerve disease or due to infection or injury. A feeling of numbness and loss of sensations is common with neuropathic pain. Usually, the body sends the pain signals when there is an injury, but with neuropathic pain, the pain is not triggered by an injury; the body unpromptedly sends the pain signals. Symptoms include spontaneous, untriggered pain, unpleasant feeling, shooting, burning or stabbing pain, difficulty resting or sleeping, and evoked pain (pain caused by events that are usually not painful).
