About Dexadine Powder
Dexadine Powder belongs to the class of topical antibiotics. It is used to treat chronic exuding wounds such as leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers, and pressure ulcers, as well as infected traumatic and surgical wounds.
Dexadine Powder contains Cadexomer iodine. It has a dual action: cleansing of the wound and bactericidal activity. Cadexomer iodine decreases bacterial count, promotes de-sloughing, absorbs exudates, and keeps the skin moist to aid in the healing of chronic skin ulcers.
Use as directed by the healthcare professional. Sometimes, Dexadine Powder may cause application site reactions such as pain, swelling, redness and irritation. The side effects of Dexadine Powder do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Do not take if you are allergic to any component in Dexadine Powder. If you are unsure, check with a healthcare professional. Do not use Dexadine Powder in more than prescribed doses or longer duration as it may cause adverse effects. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and all the medicines you take before taking Dexadine Powder to rule out any side effects. Iodine may cross the placental barrier. Clinical experience of use in pregnant women is limited. Therefore, Cadexomer iodine should not be used in pregnant women. Iodine may be secreted into breast milk. Clinical experience of use in lactating women is limited. Therefore, Cadexomer iodine should not be used in lactating women. Dexadine Powder is not recommended for children below 12 years.
Uses of Dexadine Powder
Medicinal Benefits
Dexadine Powder contains Cadexomer iodine, which belongs to the class of topical antibiotics (anti-microbial medication). It has a dual action: cleansing of the wound and bactericidal activity. When Dexadine Powder is applied to the wound, it cleans it by absorbing fluids, eliminating pus and debris, and producing a wet gel over the wound surface. It also helps to destroy microorganisms in the wound site. As a result, it aids in wound healing.
