Canestan Vaginal 100 mg Tablet is used to treat vaginal thrush (candidiasis). Vaginal thrush (candidiasis) is an infection of the vagina and/or vulva caused by candida.

Canestan Vaginal 100 mg Tablet comprises clotrimazole, which works by destroying the fungus that causes the infection. Canestan Vaginal 100 mg Tablet eliminates the infection by causing holes in the fungal cell membrane and allows the components to leak out, thus killing the fungus.

Use Canestan Vaginal 100 mg Tablet as recommended by the physician. In some cases, Canestan Vaginal 100 mg Tablet may cause abdominal pain, vulvovaginal pain, nausea, and application site reactions, including itching, burning sensation, and irritation. These side effects of Canestan Vaginal 100 mg Tablet eventually subside without medical intervention. Consult your doctor immediately if any side effects worsen or persist.

Do not use Canestan Vaginal 100 mg Tablet if you are hypersensitive or allergic to any of its components. Canestan Vaginal 100 mg Tablet is for vaginal use only. Do not swallow. If you are pregnant, planning to have a baby, or are a nursing mother, you should not use Canestan Vaginal 100 mg Tablet without a doctor's advice. Tampons and other vaginal products should not be used while on treatment with Canestan Vaginal 100 mg Tablet. Avoid using Canestan Vaginal 100 mg Tablet during the menstrual period (menses); wait until menses is over.

• Shower regularly and properly dry yourself before clothing.
• Take warm baths with mild soap.
• Don't share your bedding, towels, or clothes.
• Wearing tights or tight underwear is not recommended.
• Do not scratch the infected area. Scratching the infected skin area may spread the illness to other body parts.
• Avoid harsh soaps and deodorants or any other products.
• Avoid intercourse till the thrush has been treated.
• Limit or cut down your consumption of alcohol and caffeine.
• Reduce your intake of sugar, yeast, refined carbohydrates, and mouldy foods.
