About Candid Cream 20 gm

Candid Cream 20 gm belongs to the class of anti-fungal medications known as imidazoles, primarily used to treat fungal skin infections such as athlete's foot, ringworm, fungal nappy rash, fungal sweat rash and thrush. A fungal infection, also known as mycosis, is a skin infection caused by fungus.

Candid Cream 20 gm comprises clotrimazole, which works by destroying the fungus that causes the infection. Candid Cream 20 gm damages the fungal cell membrane and causes the components to leak out, thus killing the fungus and curing the infection.

In some cases, Candid Cream 20 gm may cause itching, redness, dryness, burning and stinging sensation. The majority of these side effects of Candid Cream 20 gm eventually fade away over time without the need for medical intervention. Consult your doctor if any side effects worsen or persist.

Directions for Use

Lotion/cream/ointment: It is only for external use. Take a small amount of lotion/cream/ointment on the fingertip and apply a thin layer on the clean and dry affected area as prescribed by your doctor. Avoid contact of lotion/cream/ointment with the nose or eyes. In case of accidental contact with these areas, rinse with water thoroughly. Wash your hands before and after using lotion/cream/ointment if your hands are not the affected area to prevent the spread of infection.Powder/Spray powder: Dust the powder over affected parts of the body or as directed by the physician.Spray: It is only for external use. Check the label for directions before using the spray. Shake well before each use. Spray the contents from a 5cm distance on the affected area. Do not spray near the eyes.Soap: Check the label for directions before use. Wet the skin with water and rub the soap to produce a rich lather. Wash thoroughly with water and pat dry.

Use Candid Cream 20 gm as prescribed. Overdose may cause severe allergic reactions like rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, and trouble breathing. Seek emergency medical help if an overdose is suspected.

Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured. Therefore, completing the full course of treatment would be suggested even if you feel better.
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.
Unless directed by a doctor, do not use Candid Cream 20 gm for more than four weeks. If used for prolonged durations, the fungus may become resistant to Candid Cream 20 gm.

Candid Cream 20 gm is effective against Trichophyton species which cause athlete’s foot, ringworm infection, and jock itch (fungal infection of the skin in the groin or buttocks). Additionally, it works well against yeast known as Candida which commonly causes vaginal thrush (infection caused by an overgrowth of yeast called Candida albicans).
The symptoms of skin infection, such as soreness or itching, should improve within a few days of using Candid Cream 20 gm. However, the signs such as scaling and redness may take longer to disappear. Even if you feel better do not stop using Candid Cream 20 gm before the duration advised by your doctor.
You are advised to use Candid Cream 20 gm for as long as it is recommended by your doctor. The type of infection determines the duration of treatment. In general, for tinea infection, the treatment is continued for 1 month and for candida infection, at least for 15 days. Do not stop using Candid Cream 20 gm on your own even if you feel better as the infection may relapse as it takes some time to kill the fungus.
Candid Cream 20 gm is safe for children only if used as advised by the doctor. Although minor side effects may occur, they are often not troublesome. However, if your child develops redness, burning sensation, and itching (which is severe in nature), stop using Candid Cream 20 gm and consult your doctor.
Avoid rubbing the affected areas too much and keep them clean and dry. Although, itching may want you to scratch, avoid scratching as it will damage the skin’s surface and cause the infection to spread further. Avoid sharing towels, bath mats, etc. with other people as you could spread the infection to them.
