About Zukanorm-D5 Tab

Zukanorm-D5 Tab is an antidiabetic medicine used to treat diabetes. It is used for the treatment of Type II Diabetes. Type II Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic condition that influences the body's metabolism of glucose or blood sugar. Insulin resistance or insufficient insulin production are the two main causes of type 2 diabetes.

Zukanorm-D5 Tab contains Dapagliflozin (sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors) and Vildagliptin (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor), which work by increasing the amounts of certain natural substances that lower blood sugar when it is high. 

Zukanorm-D5 Tab may cause certain side effects, such as vomiting, nausea, dizziness, abdominal pain, headache, frequent urination, and allergic reactions. If these side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor. Zukanorm-D5 Tab should be taken as prescribed by your doctor.

Directions for Use

Take Zukanorm-D5 Tab as advised by your doctor. It is advised not to take more than the recommended dose. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush, or break the medicine.

What if I have taken an overdose of Zukanorm-D5 Tab

Please do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. Signs and symptoms of an overdose of Zukanorm-D5 Tab may include low blood sugar and rhabdomyolysis (a condition that causes your muscles to break down, which leads to muscle death.). Seek immediate medical attention if you observe these symptoms or think you might have taken too much. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning.

Drug Warnings

Do not take Zukanorm-D5 Tab if you are allergic to any of its components. Before starting the treatment, inform your doctor about your medical history and the medications you take, including herbs and supplements, to rule out any side effects. Inform your doctor if you have any liver/kidney disease, heart problems, and hypertension before taking Zukanorm-D5 Tab . This medicine is not recommended for children as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Avoid drinking alcohol while on Zukanorm-D5 Tab  as it increases the risk of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis (when the lactic acid increases in the body, which impacts the functioning of various organs in the body). It is unknown whether Zukanorm-D5 Tab can be given to pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers. Hence, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age. Zukanorm-D5 Tab may cause dizziness; hence, drive or operate machines only if you are alert.

How does the drug interact with Zukanorm-D5 Tablet:
Co-administration of Zukanorm-D5 Tablet with Gatifloxacin may sometimes affect blood glucose levels. Both low blood glucose and, less frequently, high blood glucose have been reported.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is a possible interaction, Gatifloxacin can be taken with Zukanorm-D5 Tablet if prescribed by the doctor. Consult the prescriber if you experience symptoms such as nervousness, confusion, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, tremor, nausea, hunger, weakness, perspiration, palpitation, rapid heartbeat, increased urination, increased thirst, and increased hunger. Maintaining blood glucose levels is advised. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.

Co-administration of Zukanorm-D5 Tablet with Aliskiren may increase the risk of dehydration and low blood pressure.

How to manage the interaction:

However, if you experience dizziness, fainting, headache, lightheadedness, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate, contact a doctor. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.
