Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel

Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel belongs to the class of aminoglycoside antibiotics. It is used for the treatment of bacterial eye infections. Bacterial eye infection occurs when harmful bacteria invade any part of the eye, such as the eyeball, conjunctiva, or cornea.

Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel contains tobramycin, an antibiotic that works by killing the infection-causing bacteria. Thus Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel treats bacterial eye infections.

Use Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel as prescribed by your doctor. The common side-effects of Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel are eye irritation, feeling of having something in the eye, swollen/itchy eyelids, eye redness, increased tearing and inflammation of the cornea (clear front portion of your eye). Most of these side effects fade away gradually over time without the need for medical intervention. However, consult your doctor if you experience these side effects frequently.

Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel is for ophthalmic (eye) use only. Do not use Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel if you are allergic to tobramycin, other aminoglycoside antibiotics, or any components in Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, notify your doctor. Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel may temporarily blur your vision; therefore, wait until your vision is back to normal before using any machinery or driving.

• Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
• Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Gently pull your lower eyelid with your index finger to form a pocket. Squeeze a tiny amount of the cream/ointment into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.
• Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel is for ophthalmic use only.
• Do not touch the tip of the tube or other dispensing tip to any surface, as this may contaminate the ointment.
• If the ointment becomes discoloured, it should be discarded.

Do not use if you are allergic to tobramycin, another aminoglycoside antibiotic, or any of the components of Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor. You may have temporary blurred vision after using Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel; consequently, wait until your vision returns to normal before driving or operating any machinery. Before using Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel, notify your doctor if you have vision problems or severe eye pain. Do not use Tromacyn Ophthalmic Gel while you are wearing contact lenses.
