About Troycurium Injection 10 ml

Troycurium Injection 10 ml belongs to the group of medicines called skeletal muscle relaxants used to reduce and relieve muscle spasms (excessive tension in the muscles) occurring during surgery in intensive care. Muscle spasm is the sudden involuntary contractions of the muscle, which can be painful and uncomfortable. When the nerve impulses that control the muscle movements are damaged or interrupted, it could lead to muscle spasms.

Troycurium Injection 10 ml contains ‘Atracurium’ that works by blocking the action of acetylcholine on skeletal muscles. Thus, stop sending a pain signal to the brain, relieving muscle stiffness or muscle spasm along with pain and surgery. Troycurium Injection 10 ml is used during surgery.  It is also used during general anaesthesia to ease tracheal intubation (a tube into the windpipe) and controlled ventilation.

Troycurium Injection 10 ml is given by the healthcare professional during surgery.  In some cases, you may experience tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), temporary hypotension (low blood pressure), wheezing, bronchospasm (asthma-like symptoms), skin flushing, and urticaria (nettle rash). Most of these side effects of Troycurium Injection 10 ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Before receiving Troycurium Injection 10 ml inform your doctor if you have had myasthenia gravis or Eaton-Lambert syndrome,  severe electrolyte disorder, asthma-like symptoms (a history of allergy, asthma or bronchospasm), burns and lack of adequate circulatory filling (hypovolaemia), pregnant or breastfeeding mother. Your doctor will prescribe Troycurium Injection 10 ml only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Troycurium Injection 10 ml is not recommended in neonates (children under the age of one month). Troycurium Injection 10 ml is a cold chain medicine, and so it has to be stored in the refrigerator between 2-8 degrees Celsius else its efficiency might get lost. Do not store in the freezer or the fridge.

Side effects of Troycurium Injection 10 ml
Here are the steps to manage the medication-triggered Tachycardia (Fast Heart Rate):
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you're experiencing a fast heart rate, palpitations, or other heart-related symptoms. This is crucial to determine whether the symptoms are related to your medication.
  • Your doctor may need to adjust your medication regimen to alleviate the fast heart rate symptoms. This could involve changing the medication, reducing the dosage, or adding new medications to counteract the side effects.
  • Follow your doctor's advice on monitoring your heart rate and blood pressure. This will help track any changes and ensure your heart rate returns normal.
  • If you experience severe symptoms such as chest pain, dizziness, or shortness of breath, seek immediate medical attention. These symptoms can indicate a more serious condition that requires prompt treatment.
  • Exercising regularly helps lower the risk of heart problems.
  • Maintain a healthy diet, including vegetables and fruits.
  • Rest well; get enough sleep.
  • Manage stress with yoga and meditation.
  • Limit alcohol and smoking.
  • Injection site reaction can include numbness or redness.
  • Get a physical examination, follow your doctor's instructions, if it worsens or gets swollen.
  • Apply cold compress for pain relief.
  • Practice good hygiene and keep the injection site away from heat and pressure.
  • Avoid scratching the affected area.
  • Wear loose clothing to reduce irritation.
  • Keep the affected area moisturized with a gentle moisturiser.
  • To alleviate the reaction, remove the irritant by immediately stopping contact and washing the area with mild soap and cool water.
  • Apply a cool, wet compress to reduce inflammation and itching.
  • Consult a doctor if your skin reaction is severe, widespread, or accompanied by swelling, blistering, or breathing difficulties.
  • Skin rash caused by allergies is due to irritants or allergens. Therefore, avoid contact with such irritants.
  • Consult your doctor for proper medication and apply an anti-itch medication. Follow the schedule and use the medication whenever needed.
  • Protect your skin from extreme heat and try to apply wet compresses.
  • Soak in the cool bath, which gives a soothing impact to the affected area.
Here are the few steps for dealing with itching caused by drug use:
  • Report the itching to your doctor immediately; they may need to change your medication or dosage.
  • Use a cool, damp cloth on the itchy area to help soothe and calm the skin, reducing itching and inflammation.
  • Keep your skin hydrated and healthy with gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers.
  • Try not to scratch, as this can worsen the itching and irritate your skin.
  • If your doctor prescribes, you can take oral medications or apply topical creams or ointments to help relieve itching.
  • Track your itching symptoms and follow your doctor's guidance to adjust your treatment plan if needed. If the itching persists, consult your doctor for further advice.
Managing Low Blood Pressure Triggered by Medication: Expert Advice:
  • If you experience low blood pressure symptoms like dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting while taking medication, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Make lifestyle modifications and adjust your medication regimen under medical guidance to manage low blood pressure.
  • As your doctor advises, regularly check your blood pressure at home. Record your readings to detect any changes and share them with your doctor.
  • Fluid intake plays a vital role in managing blood pressure by maintaining blood volume, regulating blood pressure, and supporting blood vessel function. Drinking enough fluids helps prevent dehydration, maintain electrolyte balance, and regulate fluid balance.
  • Take regular breaks to sit or lie down if you need to stand for long periods.
  • When lying down, elevate your head with extra pillows to help improve blood flow.
  • Avoid heavy exercise or strenuous activities that can worsen low blood pressure.
  • Wear compression socks as your doctor advises to enhance blood flow, reduce oedema, and control blood pressure.
  • If symptoms persist or worsen, or if you have concerns about your condition, seek medical attention for personalized guidance and care.
