About Telpax M 25 Tablet

Telpax M 25 Tablet belongs to the class antihypertensive agents used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It may also be used to lower the risk of heart attack and stroke in future. High blood pressure is a condition in which the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high leading to hypertension. Symptoms of high blood pressure include headache, dizziness, nose bleed, changes in vision, chest pain, weakness and dyspnoea (shortness of breath).

Telpax M 25 Tablet is a combination of two high blood pressure-lowering medicines: Telmisartan and Metoprolol. Telmisartan belongs to the class of drugs called Angiotensin II receptor antagonists that works by blocking the angiotensin II receptor, relaxing the blood vessels and lowering the blood pressure. Metoprolol belongs to the class of drugs known as beta-blockers which reduces blood pressure by allowing the blood to flow more smoothly. Together, Telpax M 25 Tablet helps in reducing the raised blood pressure. 

Take Telpax M 25 Tablet as prescribed. You are advised to take Telpax M 25 Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness, stomach pain, and slow heart rate. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Telpax M 25 Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. Try not to stop taking it on your own as it may cause a sudden increase the blood pressure, chest pain or heart attack. Drug Warnings

Do not take Telpax M 25 Tablet if you are allergic to telmisartan or metoprolol. Inform your doctor if you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors, aliskiren, quinidine, disopyramide, or other blood pressure-lowering medicines. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking Telpax M 25 Tablet . Telpax M 25 Tablet is not recommended for children. Telpax M 25 Tablet may cause dizziness and tiredness, so drive or operate heavy machinery only if you are alert. Keep your doctor informed if you have kidney or liver diseases, biliary obstruction, heart problems, low blood pressure, diabetes, elevated potassium levels, blood circulation problems, asthma, COPD, metabolic acidosis, phaeochromocytoma, slow heart rate, psoriasis, myasthenia gravis, or prinzmetal angina.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Telpax M 25 Tablet may have interaction with medicines such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors, analgesics (aspirin, ibuprofen), anti-seizure (pregabalin), heart-related medicines (digoxin, flecainide), anti-depression drugs (lithium, fluvoxamine, sertraline, fluoxetine), and drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction (sildenafil).

Drug-Food Interactions: Maintain low salt and low-fat diet while taking Telpax M 25 Tablet . Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.

Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform your doctor if you have diabetes, renal dysfunction (kidney disease), pulmonary disease, alcoholism, congestive heart failure (heart disease), hypotension (low blood pressure) or liver disease.

Telpax M 25 Tablet may cause a slow heart rate (bradycardia). A minor fluctuation should not be a worry, however, if slow heart rate continues and you begin to feel unwell, speak with your doctor.
Telpax M 25 Tablet may alter potassium levels. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are taking food rich in potassium such as potassium-containing salt substitutes or over-the-counter potassium supplements.

Orthostatic hypotension could be a side-effect of Telpax M 25 Tablet . Orthostatic hypotension is a sudden lowering in blood pressure leading to dizziness on standing. If you experience this, do not try to stand up suddenly or start walking, instead lie down and get up slowly only when you feel better. People taking Telpax M 25 Tablet are advised to regularly monitor their blood pressure levels to avoid unpleasant events.
You are advised to stop smoking and alcohol consumption. Consume low salt and low-fat diet and maintain a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Regular exercise is recommended while taking Telpax M 25 Tablet as it helps to lower blood pressure and improves blood flow.

No, Telpax M 25 Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding as it may harm the foetus or feeding baby.
