Soliwax Ear Drops is a combination medicine used to dissolve earwax and relieve ear discomfort. Earwax generally traps and prevents dust, bacteria, other germs and small objects from entering and damaging the ear. But in some people, glands produce more wax than usual and may harden and block the ear canal resulting in wax impactions (build-up of layers of earwax and blockage of the ear canal).

Soliwax Ear Drops is a combination of five drugs, namely: Benzocaine, BHA (Butylated hydroxyanisole), Chlorbutol, Paradichlorobenzene and Turpentine oil. Benzocaine is a local anaesthetic that blocks pain signals from nerves to the brain and reduces the sensation of pain. Chlorbutol and BHA act as preservatives. Paradichlorobenzene is an earwax softener that decreases the thickness of earwax. Turpentine oil acts as a lubricating agent.

Use Soliwax Ear Drops as advised by your doctor. Soliwax Ear Drops is only for use in ears. In some cases, you may experience headache and sleeplessness. Most of these side effects of Soliwax Ear Drops do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Soliwax Ear Drops or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Soliwax Ear Drops should be used in children only if recommended by a doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult a doctor before using Soliwax Ear Drops. If you experience ear discharge, drainage, worsening pain or any signs of skin rash, stop using Soliwax Ear Drops and please consult a doctor immediately. Please do not touch the tip of the container to the ear or surrounding areas as it may contaminate Soliwax Ear Drops. Drug-Disease Interaction: If you have hearing problems, kidney or intestinal problems, Parkinson’s disease or myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), inform your doctor before using Soliwax Ear Drops.

• Limit cleaning to the outer ear only.

• Avoid frequent use of earphones as it may also cause wax build-up. 

• Do not touch the dropper tip as it may contaminate the contents. Do not put cotton into the ear after the administration of ear drops.
• Discard any unused medicine after the completion of the course of treatment.
• Soliwax Ear Drops is an otic solution which is to be used only to treat infected ears; do not instil in the eyes.

Earwax can be removed by using gentle suction, curette (a small plastic spoon) or irrigating the ear with sodium bicarbonate, warm water or certain ear drops.
