About Simcolex Tablet

Simcolex Tablet is used to treat intestinal gas, painful pressure, poisoning, and swelling in the abdomen. Intestinal gas (Flatulence) and bloating occur due to the accumulation of gas or air in the digestive system.

Simcolex Tablet is a combination of two drugs: Simethicone and Activated Charcoal, which are anti-flatulent medications. Simethicone works by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles, thereby facilitating the expulsion of gas through flatus or belching (burping). It also prevents the accumulation and formation of gas in the digestive tract. Activated Charcoal helps to reduce the volume of intestinal gas and produces discernible relief. 

You are advised to take Simcolex Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as dark stools and constipation. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Do not take Simcolex Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Simcolex Tablet should not be given to children as safety has not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Simcolex Tablet .

Side effects of Simcolex Tablet
Here are the steps to cope with constipation as a side effect of medication:
  • Inform your doctor about your constipation symptoms. They may adjust your medication or advise alternative treatments.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking sufficient of water (at least 8-10 glasses a day) to help soften stool and promote bowel movements.
  • Increase fibre intake by eating foods high in fibre, such as fruits, whole grains, vegetables and legumes, to help bulk up the stool.
  • Establish a bowel routine by trying to go to the bathroom at the same time each day to train your bowels.
  • Engaging in regular exercise, like walking or yoga, can support in bowel movement stimulation.
  • Consult your doctor if constipation persists, and discuss alternative treatments or adjustments to your medication.

What if I have taken an overdose of Simcolex Tablet

Take Simcolex Tablet only as prescribed by the physician. Do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. If you suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

Do not take Simcolex Tablet if you are allergic to any of its contents. The expiration date of any drug is the last day the manufacturer takes a guarantee of the drug's full potency.
