Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension belongs to the class of medicines called corticosteroids used to reduce eye inflammation caused by certain conditions. It is used to provide relief from eye redness, irritation, burning and swelling caused by heat, radiation, chemicals, allergies or foreign objects in the eye. Eye inflammation is a common condition in which eyes become swollen and red.
Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension contains Prednisolone acetate (corticosteroid) and Benzalkonium chloride (preservative). Prednisolone acetate belongs to the class of corticosteroids that work by inhibiting the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching and swelling. Benzalkonium chloride acts as a preservative.
Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension is only for ophthalmic use (eyes). You are advised to use Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience mild eye irritation, headache, red eye, blurred vision or a feeling of something in the eye. Most of these side effects of Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects worsen or persist, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension is not recommended for children as the safety and effectiveness were not established. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before using Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension. Drive only if your vision is clear as Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using. If you have bacterial, viral or fungal eye infections, ulcers or injuries on the cornea, tuberculosis of the eye, glaucoma, or had herpes simplex, inform your doctor before using Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension.

You are advised to remove soft contact lenses before using Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension as it may cause discolouration of the soft contact lens. Do not touch the container tip to the eye, eyelids or surrounding areas as it may contaminate Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension and cause eye infections.
Drug-Drug Interaction: Inform your doctor if you are taking anti-HIV medicines (cobicistat, ritonavir) before using Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension.

Drug-Disease Interaction: If you have bacterial, viral or fungal eye infections, ulcers or injuries on the cornea, glaucoma, tuberculosis of the eye, or had herpes simplex, inform your doctor before taking Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension.
Eat Omega-3 fatty acid-rich foods such as sardines, mackerel, tuna, salmon, trout and omega-3 fatty acid supplements.
Cut down your coffee intake as it may increase pressure in the eye. Replace coffee with green tea.
Maintain a diet rich in antioxidants such as dark-green leafy vegetables, whole grains, citrus fruits, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, etc.
Avoid consuming processed foods such as high-fat meats, sugary foods, dairy products, fast foods as they may increase inflammation.
If you are using Pred Forte Ophthalmic Suspension for more than 10 days, your doctor may recommended certain tests to check your eyes for cataracts, infections and increase in pressure in the eyes.
Eye inflammation: It is a common condition in which eyes become swollen and red. Eye inflammation occurs in response to allergies, irritation, infection, injury, autoimmune disorders or trauma to the eyelids, eyes or surrounding tissues. It may affect different parts of the eye.
