About PEPSIGARD P GEL

PEPSIGARD P GEL belongs to a class of medication called gastrointestinal agents used to treat duodenal ulcers, nausea, and vomiting. Duodenal ulcer is a peptic ulcer that develops in the duodenum (first part of the small intestine) due to erosion of the stomach's protective lining. Nausea is a feeling of uneasiness in the stomach that often comes before vomiting. On the other hand, vomiting is the forcible voluntary or involuntary emptying of stomach contents through the mouth.

PEPSIGARD P GEL is a combination of two drugs: Sucralfate (gastrointestinal protectant) and Domperidone (antinausea agent). Sucralfate belongs to the protectants class which forms a protective layer over the ulcer and protects the stomach from an ulcer due to excess stomach acid, thereby healing it. Domperidone belongs to the dopamine antagonist class that works by blocking dopamine receptors that stimulate the vomiting center (chemoreceptor trigger zone – CTZ) located in the brain. Together they prevent ulcers, nausea, and vomiting.

Take PEPSIGARD P GEL as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take PEPSIGARD P GEL for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may experience dry mouth, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, or headache in some cases. Most of these side effects of PEPSIGARD P GEL do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to PEPSIGARD P GEL or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. PEPSIGARD P GEL is not recommended for children below 18 years and those weighing less than 35 kg as the safety and effectiveness were not established. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking $your name. Drive only if you are alert as PEPSIGARD P GEL may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Avoid alcohol consumption as it may increase adverse effects or irritate the stomach lining. Avoid taking PEPSIGARD P GEL if you have black, tarry stools or notice blood in stools as these might be signs of bleeding in the stomach or intestines.
