About Palonosar Injection
Palonosar Injection belongs to a class of drugs called antiemetics used to prevent nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy. Nausea is a feeling of uneasiness of the stomach that often comes before vomiting. On the other hand, vomiting is the forcible voluntary or involuntary emptying of stomach contents through the mouth.
Palonosar Injection contains Palonosetron which works by blocking the action of serotonin, a chemical that stimulates the vomiting centre (chemoreceptor trigger zone – CTZ) located in the brain. Thus, it prevents nausea and vomiting.
Palonosar Injection will be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. In some cases, you may experience diarrhoea, constipation, dizziness or headache. Most of these side effects of Palonosar Injection do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Palonosar Injection or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Palonosar Injection may be given to children above 1 month in doses as advised by a doctor based on the child's body weight. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking Palonosar Injection. Drive only if you are alert as Palonosar Injection may cause tiredness or dizziness. You are recommended to avoid heavy meals and take small nourishing snacks throughout the day. Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
