Oracin Gel is a combination of local anti-infective and antiseptic preparations. It is used in the treatment of mouth ulcers. Mouth ulcers, also known as canker sores, are small, painful lesions that develop in the mouth or gums' base.
Oracin Gel is a combination of four drugs: Cetrimide, Choline Salicylate, Lignocaine and Tannic Acid. Cetrimide is an antiseptic to prevent bacterial and fungal growth around the ulcer. Choline Salicylate reduces pain and inflammation by blocking the production of prostaglandins, which cause these symptoms. Lignocaine numbs the area to provide temporary pain relief. Tannic Acid protects the ulcer and promotes healing by forming a coating. It may also have some antibacterial and antiviral effects as well. Together, it relieves pain, inflammation, and discomfort caused by mouth ulcers.
You are advised to use Oracin Gel for as long as your doctor prescribes it, depending on your medical condition. Sometimes, Oracin Gel may cause common side-effects such as application site reactions and metallic taste. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
To treat your condition effectually, continue using Oracin Gel for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. Consult your doctor before using Oracin Gel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use Oracin Gel in more than prescribed doses or on a large skin area for longer, as it may cause adverse effects. Do not use Oracin Gel to treat children's mouth ulcers unless prescribed by the doctor. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and all the medicines you take before using Oracin Gel to rule out any side effects.
Oracin Gel is a combination of four drugs: Cetrimide, Choline Salicylate, Lignocaine, and Tannic Acid. Cetrimide is a topical antiseptic. Choline Salicylate relieves pain by decreasing the formation of prostaglandins, which trigger pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Lignocaine reduces pain sensation by blocking the transfer of pain signals from the nerves to the brain. Tannic acid forms a protective coating around mouth ulcers, allowing them to heal. Together, Oracin Gel helps in treating mouth ulcers.

People with a family history of canker sores are more likely to develop mouth ulcers. Minor mouth injury from dental work or hard brushing, acidic foods, lack of essential vitamins, dental braces, emotional stress, and viral, bacterial, or fungal infections could cause developing mouth ulcers.
