Optithrocin Ointment 5 gm belongs to the class of macrolide antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections of the eye such as bacterial conjunctivitis and trachoma conjunctivitis. An inflammation or infection of the transparent membrane that lines the eyelids and eyes is known as bacterial conjunctivitis. Trachoma conjunctivitis is an eye infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis.

Optithrocin Ointment 5 gm contains azithromycin which works by killing the conjunctivitis-causing bacteria. Thus Optithrocin Ointment 5 gm treats bacterial eye infections.

Eye drops: Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Instil the number of drops advised by the doctor into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.Eye cream/ointment: Lie down and tilt your head backwards.
