Olpress M 25 Tablet ER is a combination of blood pressure-lowering medicine, primarily used to treat high blood pressure. Hypertension or high blood pressure is a chronic condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery wall is high. As a result, it leads to heart disease, irregular heartbeat, and other complications.

Olpress M 25 Tablet ER combines two medicines, Olmesartan Medoxomil and Metoprolol, which help lower raised blood pressure effectively. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin, thereby relaxing blood vessels. This allows the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently. Metoprolol (beta-blocker) helps relax our blood vessels by blocking the action of certain natural substances in your body. This lowers your blood pressure and helps reduce your risk of a stroke, a heart attack, other heart problems, or kidney problems in the future. This medicine needs to be taken regularly to be effective.

You can take Olpress M 25 Tablet ER with food or without food. It should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, bite, or break it. Your doctor will advise you on how often you take your tablets based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience headache, nausea, dizziness, diarrhoea, Indigestion and low blood pressure. Most of these side effects of Olpress M 25 Tablet ER do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Try not to stop taking this medicine of your own. Let your doctor know about this, as it may cause a rise in blood pressure and increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Inform your doctor if you suffer from kidney, liver, heart disease, or diabetes. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please tell your doctor so that the dosage of Olpress M 25 Tablet ER can be prescribed accordingly. Olpress M 25 Tablet ER should not give to children under 12 years of age. Do not use Olpress M 25 Tablet ER if you have low blood pressure (hypotension) or cardiogenic shock (sudden stopping of blood flow to the heart). Please tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines or are allergic to Olpress M 25 Tablet ER. Reducing the amount of table salt (sodium chloride) in your food often relieves the swelling of the body. It would be best if you had normal potassium and electrolytes level check-ups while taking Olpress M 25 Tablet ER to prevent any complications.

Olpress M 25 Tablet ER can be taken orally with or without food or as directed by your doctor. Swallow the whole tablet with approximately a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break it. It is preferable to take the drug at the same time every day for better results. Never take an overdose to make up for a missed dose.

Don't stop taking Olpress M 25 Tablet ER without talking to your doctor first. Stopping Olpress M 25 Tablet ER gradually may cause changes in your heart rhythm and blood pressure, cause chest pain or a heart attack. Your doctor will gradually lower your dose to help prevent these symptoms. You should not use Olpress M 25 Tablet ER if you have a very slow heartbeat, asthma, serious heart condition (sick sinus syndrome), or any heart blockage. It should not be given to children less than 12 years of age. Before taking Olpress M 25 Tablet ER, you should tell the doctor if you have any muscle disorder (myasthenia gravis, rhabdomyolysis), breathing problems (COPD, bronchitis, emphysema), low blood sugar level (hypoglycaemia), low blood pressure (hypotension), depression, previous heart failure, liver/kidney disease, thyroid hormone disorder, adrenal gland cancer, or problems with circulation (RaynRaynaud'sdrome). Prolonged use of Olpress M 25 Tablet ER may cause increased potassium levels, so regular serum potassium and electrolyte monitoring is required.

• You are advised to consume low salt and low-fat diet while taking Olpress M 25 Tablet ER. 

• Regular exercise is also recommended to complement treatment with Olpress M 25 Tablet ER.

• Eat a diet rich in whole grains, vegetables, and fruits.

• Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.

• Maintain a healthy weight with proper diet and exercise.

• Managing stress with meditation, yoga, and massage would also help in treating high blood pressure.
