About Oliza 10mg Injection

Oliza 10mg Injection belongs to a group of medicines called 'atypical antipsychotics,' primarily used to treat schizophrenia and manic or mixed episodes of bipolar I disorder. Schizophrenia is a mental condition in which you may feel, hear or see things that are not there (hallucinations), believe things that are not true, and feel unusually suspicious or confused. Bipolar I disorder is a serious brain disorder where you experience extreme mood swings (variance in thinking) and frequent mood and behaviour changes.

Oliza 10mg Injection contains 'Olanzapine' that works by restoring the balance of chemical messengers in the brain and improves thinking mood, and behaviour. Oliza 10mg Injection improves mental clarity and lessens hallucinations. It is used to treat schizophrenia-related agitation and the manic phases of bipolar disorder.

Oliza 10mg Injection will be administered by a health care professional; do not self-administer. Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, stomach pain, back pain, runny/stuffy nose, cough, increased appetite, weight gain, and redness/pain/swelling at the injection site. These side effects are not common for everyone. If you notice any side effects that are not manageable, please consult your doctor. 

Oliza 10mg Injection is not recommended for treatment in patients with Dementia-Related Psychosis. Drug-Drug Interaction: Oliza 10mg Injection may interact with opioid pain relievers (codeine, hydrocodone), anti-anxiety drugs (alprazolam, diazepam), muscle relaxants (carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine), anti-allergic drugs (cetirizine), common cold medicines (diphenhydramine), acidity treating drugs (cimetidine, antacids), fits medicines (carbamazepine), antidepressants (fluvoxamine, fluoxetine), and anticoagulants (warfarin).

Drug-Food Interaction: Do not consume alcohol while being treated with Oliza 10mg Injection, as it could lead to increased dizziness and drowsiness.

Olanzapine can cause side effects like orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering in blood pressure leading to dizziness on standing). If you experience this, do not try to stand up suddenly or start walking; instead, lie down and get up slowly only when you feel better. This medicine should be cautiously advised in people with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Patients taking Oliza 10mg Injection are advised to regularly monitor their blood pressure levels to avoid any unpleasant events. It is also advised to be aware of a condition called tardive dyskinesia (uncontrolled movements of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, arms or legs) that may rarely occur while using this medicine.
