About Motimesh-SF Cream

Motimesh-SF Cream is used to treat bacterial skin infections, such as eczema and dermatitis, nasal polyps (painless growth on the lining of the nose or sinuses), dermatoses (lesions or eruptions of the skin) and impetigo (red sores on the face). Bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause disease. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly.

Motimesh-SF Cream is composed of two medicines: Mometasone (corticosteroid) and Fusidic acid (antibiotic). Mometasone belongs to the class of corticosteroids. Corticosteroids have anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive and antiproliferative (inhibit cell growth) properties. It blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen and itchy. On the other hand, Fusidic acid is an antibiotic and prevents the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. It is used to treat infections like dermatitis (inflammation of the skin), spots, cuts, grazes, impetigo (weeping, crusty and swollen patches of skin) and folliculitis (inflammation of one or more hair follicles).

Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose that suits your infection. Motimesh-SF Cream has common side effects like itching, dryness, redness and burning sensation at the application site. These side effects usually do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if you face any other symptoms or the side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

Let your doctor know if you have any allergic reactions to Motimesh-SF Cream or other medications. Motimesh-SF Cream is not recommended for diaper rash. Mometasone may increase the risk of infection in patients exposed to viral illnesses like chickenpox or measles. Do not use Motimesh-SF Cream on sensitive areas like nostrils, ears, lips or genitals if the doctor did not advise you. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Motimesh-SF Cream.

Let your doctor know if your allergic to Motimesh-SF Cream or any of its components.
No, Motimesh-SF Cream is not recommended to use for diaper rash, since Mometasone in Motimesh-SF Cream can be systemically absorbed and cause adrenal suppression, Cushing's syndrome and intracranial hypertension (pressure of the fluid that surrounds the brain). Your baby's paediatrician may suggest other medications for the treatment of diaper rash.
Motimesh-SF Cream, when used for longer periods, can cause thinning and weakening of the skin. Please stop using Motimesh-SF Cream and immediately consult your doctor if you notice these symptoms.

Don't use Motimesh-SF Cream for longer than your doctor prescribed. Using it too long can cause more side effects, worsen your skin condition, and even lead to resistant bacteria. This means the medication might not work as well, and the infection could become harder to treat. Stick to the prescribed duration and talk to your doctor if you need to continue treatment. They'll check your progress and advise on the best next steps.
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember unless it's almost time for your next dose.

Use it for the duration prescribed by your doctor. Using it for too long can lead to side effects and reduced effectiveness. On the other hand, using it for too short a period may not effectively clear up the infection, so be sure to complete the full treatment course as directed.
