About Monoguard Shampoo

Monoguard Shampoo belongs to the class of antidandruff agents used to treat dandruff. Dandruff is a scalp condition characterized by dry, itchy, white flakes of skin on the scalp. 

Monoguard Shampoo is a combination of two antifungal drugs, namely: Sertaconazole nitrate and Zinc pyrithione. Monoguard Shampoo works by damaging the fungal cell membranes that are essential for their survival as they prevent the entry of unwanted substances into the cells and stop the leakage of cell contents. Thus, Monoguard Shampoo kills fungi causing dandruff and provides relief from flaky and itchy scalp.

Monoguard Shampoo is only for external use. Some people may experience irritation at the site of the application. Most of these side effects of Monoguard Shampoo do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor. 

If you are allergic to Monoguard Shampoo or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Monoguard Shampoo. Avoid scratching the scalp as it may worsen dandruff. Cover your head with a scarf or hat while going out. You are recommended to drink plenty of water as hydrating the body may reduce the number of flakes on the scalp, thus decreasing the appearance of dandruff.

Directions for Use

Monoguard Shampoo is only for external use. Check the label for directions before using Monoguard Shampoo. Wet hair with a sufficient quantity of water. Apply 5 to 10ml of shampoo on the scalp depending on the length of hair. Massage to lather and leave it on the scalp and hair for a few minutes. Then, thoroughly rinse with water. Avoid contact of Monoguard Shampoo with eyes. In case Monoguard Shampoo comes in contact with eyes accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly.

  • Use conditioners, shampoos and other products containing tea tree oil as they might help relieve itching.
  • Avoid using hair products containing harsh chemicals such as alcohol and bleach as they may dry out the scalp.

Dirty hair does not cause dandruff but not washing your hair often enough makes the oil build-up leading to flakes.
