Meditrex-20 Tablet is used to treat active rheumatoid arthritis, including polyarticular juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, severe psoriasis, and severe psoriatic arthritis. Meditrex-20 Tablet is used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat breast cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancer, mycosis fungoides (type of blood cancer), and advanced-stage non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (cancer that starts in the lymphatic system).

Meditrex-20 Tablet contains 'Methotrexate', which works by interrupting the processes of the immune system that cause inflammation in the joint tissues. It reduces pain and inflammation and delays joint damage and disease progression over time. Besides this, Meditrex-20 Tablet prevents and stops the growth of cancer cells, thereby helping treat cancer. Meditrex-20 Tablet treats psoriasis by suppressing the overactive immune system that is responsible for causing psoriasis.

In some cases, Meditrex-20 Tablet may cause common side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, unusual fatigue, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, lowered resistance to infections, tingling sensation, leukopenia (decreased number of white blood cells), and soreness of mouth and lips. You are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Take Meditrex-20 Tablet exactly as prescribed by the doctor; daily intake of Meditrex-20 Tablet could lead to serious toxic effects. Do not take Meditrex-20 Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Meditrex-20 Tablet may cause dizziness and fatigue, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol whilst on treatment with Meditrex-20 Tablet. Your doctor may advise you to undergo regular blood tests and kidney and liver tests to monitor your condition. Directions for Use

Tablet/capsule: Take it one hour after food in the evening or as advised by the doctor. Swallow the tablet/capsule as a whole with a glass of water whilst standing or sitting upright; do not break or chew it. Oral solution: Take the prescribed quantity by mouth using the dosing syringe.

What if I have taken an overdose of Meditrex-20 Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Meditrex-20 Tablet as it may cause overdose leading to severe toxic reactions. The symptoms of overdose include unusual weakness, nausea, vomiting, easy bruising or bleeding, mouth sores, decreased urination, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds and black or bloody stools. If you suspect you have taken overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Do not take Meditrex-20 Tablet if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you have immunodeficiency conditions, bone marrow problems, low white blood cell count, low platelet count, serious anaemia, liver problems due to alcohol abuse, chronic liver disease; if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Meditrex-20 Tablet acts as an immunosuppressant, which helps in reducing inflammation and prevents joint stiffness, thereby providing relief from rheumatoid arthritis.

Meditrex-20 Tablet works by suppressing the overactive immune system that is responsible for causing psoriasis. Meditrex-20 Tablet interferes with the synthesis of genetic material (DNA) and the growth of cells that multiply faster than usual, thereby helping in treating psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

Diarrhoea might be a side-effect of Meditrex-20 Tablet. Stop taking Meditrex-20 Tablet and consult your doctor if you have diarrhoea. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.

Meditrex-20 Tablet can affect egg and sperm production and could lead to birth defects. Women of child-bearing potential and men using Meditrex-20 Tablet must use effective contraception while on treatment with Meditrex-20 Tablet and for at least six months after stopping the treatment. Meditrex-20 Tablet can lead to infertility.
