Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines used for the short-term treatment of seizure clusters. Seizure clusters are episodes of elevated seizure activity, defined as two or more seizures occurring within a 24-hour period. They are upsetting situations that can leave you feeling anxious, frustrated, or helpless.

Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI contains Midazolam which works by increasing GABA activity (a chemical messenger in the brain). Thus, Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI suppresses the excessive and abnormal activity of nerve cells in the brain and controls fits.

Use Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI as prescribed and for the duration as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. Sometimes, it may cause side effects such as headache, drowsiness, runny nose, throat irritation, and nasal discomfort. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Midazolam or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant, planning for pregnancy or are breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI. Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI is not recommended for children below 12 years as the safety and effectiveness were not established. Avoid consumption of alcohol with Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI as it may cause increased drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI affects you. Avoid using Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI if you have acute narrow-angle glaucoma (eye problem). Do not take Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI with opioids until and unless prescribed by a doctor, as it may increase the risk of breathing problems, severe drowsiness or coma.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Inform your doctor about all the other medicines you are taking, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines and herbal and vitamin supplements.

Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid alcohol consumption with Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI as it may increase drowsiness or dizziness.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Avoid using Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI if you have acute narrow-angle glaucoma (eye problem). If you have a history of drug abuse, mood problems, depression, suicidal thoughts or behaviour, asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or other breathing problems, kidney, liver or heart problems, inform your doctor before taking Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI.

• Do regular exercise and maintain a healthy body weight.
• Maintain a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Avoid fried foods, high-fat dairy products, pastries and processed foods, as they may worsen anxiety.
• Follow a regular sleep pattern. Do not take a nap during day time.
• Avoid watching tv and using mobiles or laptops just before bedtime.
• Avoid consumption of alcohol as it may increase drowsiness.

• Do not use Medistat-1.25 Nasal Spray 25 MDI for more than 1 seizure cluster episode every three days and for more than five seizure cluster episodes per month. Please consult your doctor if you have concerns.
