Markocid Suspension belongs to a group of medicines called antacids used to treat acidity, heartburn, stomach ulcer, indigestion, stomach upset, and bloating. The abdomen is usually protected from acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets eroded, which leads to complications like acidity and heartburn.
Markocid Suspension consists of Dimethicone, Aluminium hydroxide, Milk of magnesia, and sorbitol. Dimethicone is an antifoaming agent that works by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles, thereby facilitating the expulsion of gas through flatus or belching (burping). Aluminium hydroxide and milk of magnesia are antacids that work by neutralising excess stomach acid and providing relief from acidity. Sorbitol is a laxative that softens the stools and makes it easier to pass.
