Lozivate-MF Ointment belongs to the group of medicines known as'anti-inflammatory and antipruritic agents' primarily used to treat eczema and psoriasis. Eczema is a condition in which skin patches become inflamed, itchy, cracked and rough. Some types of eczema can also lead to blisters (a small bubble on the skin that is filled with serum and is caused by friction, burning, or other damage). Psoriasis is a skin disorder in which skin cells multiply up to 10 times faster than normal, which leads to the build-up of skin into bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales. These can grow anywhere, but most commonly, they appear on the scalp, elbows, knees and lower back.
Lozivate-MF Ointment contains Clobetasol, Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, and Urea. Clobetasol is a steroid that works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that are responsible for making the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Salicylic Acid and urea is a keratolytic medicine (that softens, separates, and causes desquamation (peeling) of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin) which breaks down the clumps of keratin, removes dead skin cells, and helps in softening of the skin. It also helps in the absorption of Clobetasol into the skin. On the other Lactic acid helps to improve the natural moisture of the skin and keep the skin hydrated. It also promotes collagen renewal and firmness of the skin.
Lozivate-MF Ointment should be used in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. It is advised to check the label for directions before use. It is for external use only. Make sure to wash your hands before and after using this medicine. Lozivate-MF Ointment is generally safe to use. Some may experience side effects such as peeling of the skin, thinning of the skin, burning, itching, irritation, and redness at the application site. Please consult your doctor if you experience a worsening of any side effects.
Do not stop using Lozivate-MF Ointment without consulting your doctor. Please inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, breastfeeding, or suffering from any other disease. Lozivate-MF Ointment is safe to use in breastfeeding mothers. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to Lozivate-MF Ointment.
Lozivate-MF Ointment is used to treat several conditions associated with dry skin like eczema, psoriasis, corns and callus. In some cases, this medicine is also used for treating nail problems (e.g., ingrown nails). Clobetasol propionate present in the medicine helps to reduce swelling, itching, and irritation of the skin. Lactic acid and Salicylic acid helps to improve the skin's moisture and keep the skin hydrated for a long duration. Additionally, it exfoliates the skin by shedding older, dull cells of the skin and speeds up the cell turnover rate so that dead cells are replaced by healthy cells. Urea is naturally present in healthy skin. It locks the moisture in the skin and softens the surface of the skin so that dead cells will easily shed. All medicines in combination help to reduce itchy, scaly skin due to eczema and psoriasis. When you apply Lozivate-MF Ointment, it works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) responsible for making the skin red, swollen, and itchy. It softens, separates and causes desquamation of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin and breaks down the clumps of keratin, removes dead skin cells, and helps soften the skin.
Lozivate-MF Ointment should not be used in persons who have an allergy to any of its constituents or have broken skin, skin infection, cuts or itchy skin, eye infection, acne, or rosacea. In such a case, it is advised to tell your doctor about your medical condition. Lozivate-MF Ointment should be used with caution for a long time as long-term usage can pose the risk of adrenal gland problems. It is advised to discontinue this medicine if you experience symptoms like blurred vision, dizziness or fainting, a fast, irregular or pounding heartbeat, increased thirst or urination, irritability or unusual tiredness or weakness.
