Lorfast-AM Tablet is used to treat cough. Coughing (dry or productive) is the body’s way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus, or smoke) from airways and preventing infection.
Lorfast-AM Tablet contains Ambroxol and Loratadine. Ambroxol works by thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose. It also breaks down the acid mucopolysaccharide fibres that make the mucous (sputum) thinner and less dense/viscous, removing sputum efficiently by coughing. However, the viscosity of sputum remains low for as long as treatment is maintained. Loratadine acts by blocking histamine's action (chemicals causing allergic symptoms) and reducing the allergic reaction. It provides quick relief from allergic symptoms.
Take Lorfast-AM Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Lorfast-AM Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending upon your medical condition. Sometimes, you may experience sleepiness, upset stomach, headache, or allergic reaction. Most of these side effects of Lorfast-AM Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are known to be allergic to Lorfast-AM Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Inform your doctor before starting Lorfast-AM Tablet if you are previously diagnosed with seizures (fits), stomach ulcer, asthma, liver or kidney failure. It is advised to check with your doctor before using Lorfast-AM Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Increase the intake of fluids while taking Lorfast-AM Tablet as it is known to loosen the mucus.

Stay hydrated as it is vital for those with a cough or cold. Drinking liquids at room temperature can alleviate runny nose and sneezing.
Avoid stress as the immune system is affected by stress and raises the risk of being sick. An individual can exercise regularly, meditate, do deep breathing, and try progressive muscle relaxation techniques to relieve stress.
Avoid dairy products such as milk as they may increase mucus production. Also, avoid processed or refined foods to have relief from cough. Instead, replace baked foods, fried foods, white bread, white pasta, French fries, sugary desserts, and chips with green leafy vegetables.
Drink plenty of fluids to avoid a dry throat while you have a cough.
Avoid citrus fruits as they may worsen the cough. Eat fruits rich in water content, such as pears, watermelon, peaches, and pineapples.
If you are allergic to some sugars, please inform your doctor as Lorfast-AM Tablet may contain sorbitol.
You are recommended not to take Lorfast-AM Tablet for more than 10 days without your doctor’s advice.
Cough: Coughing is the body’s way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus, or smoke) from airways and preventing infection. Coughs may be dry or productive. A productive cough (wet cough) brings up sputum (phlegm, mucus, and other matter) from the lungs. Cough is commonly caused as a response to allergy or viral infection, but coughing up mucus is possibly an indication of infection in the respiratory tract. If you are coughing thick, solid white mucus, it indicates you may have a bacterial infection in the airways. If the mucus is clear or light-coloured, it indicates you may have allergies or minor infections in the respiratory tract, and yellow or green mucus indicates a respiratory infection.
