About Lacrisol Eye Drops

Lacrisol Eye Drops is used to treat dry eyes. Dry eye(s) is a condition in which the eye fails to make enough tears to coat it, which exposes the cornea and conjunctiva (outer coverings of the eye) to evaporation and subsequent damage.

Lacrisol Eye Drops is a combination of three drugs: Hypromellose, Glycerin and Dextran. Lacrisol Eye Drops is a slightly viscous solution that acts as an eye lubricant, also known as artificial tears. It works similarly to natural tears and provides temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to the eye's dryness by maintaining proper lubrication of the eyes and acting as a protectant against further irritation.

Lacrisol Eye Drops is for external (eyes) use only. You are advised to use this medicine for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending upon your medical condition. The most common side effects are irritation, pain, and blurred vision. They do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Before using Lacrisol Eye Drops, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any one of the medicine components and wash your hands before using the eye drops to avoid contamination. Do not touch the bottle's tip to avoid contamination, and replace the cap tightly after each use. Lacrisol Eye Drops is for external use only. Never encourage self-medication or suggest your medicine to someone else. Remove contact lenses before using this medicine. It is advised not to drive or operate heavy machinery after using this medicine as it may cause blurring of vision and may affect your ability to drive.

Directions for Use

Instil the number of drops advised by the doctor into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. Do not touch the tip of the dropper, as it may contaminate the contents. Do not place the tip directly into the eye while instilling the drop. If the dropper touches the eye, immediately squeeze two to three drops onto the tissue and wipe the dropper’s tip with water. Discard any unused medicine after completing the course of therapy or within 4 weeks after opening the bottle.
