Kersol 6 BZ Ointment is a dermatological medication, primarily used to treat eczema and psoriasis. Eczema is a skin condition associated with inflamed, itchy, cracked and rough skin patches. Psoriasis is a skin disease in which skin cells multiply rapidly to form bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales.
Kersol 6 BZ Ointment is composed of three medicines: Betamethasone (corticosteroid), Salicylic acid (peeling agent), and Zinc oxide (antiseptic and astringent). Betamethasone belongs to the class of corticosteroids. It blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen and itchy. Betamethasone treats inflammation and itchiness caused by eczema and psoriasis. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medicine (softens, separates, and causes desquamation (peeling) of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin). It increases the amount of moisture in the skin and dissolves the substance that causes the skin cells to stick together. Zinc oxide is a mild antiseptic and astringent (cleanses skin and tightens pores). It works by forming a barrier on the skin to protect it from moisture and irritants.
Your doctor will advise the appropriate use of Kersol 6 BZ Ointment that suits your infection. Common side effects of Kersol 6 BZ Ointment include itching, dryness, and burning sensation at the application site. These side effects are temporary and gradually resolve over time. If the side effects are persistent, please consult your doctor.
Let your doctor know if you are sensitive to Kersol 6 BZ Ointment or any other medications. Do not use topical Kersol 6 BZ Ointment on open wounds, blisters and lesions. Please do not cover the affected areas with a dressing or bandage since it increases the side effects. Kersol 6 BZ Ointment is not recommended for use in diaper rash and chickenpox. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Kersol 6 BZ Ointment.
Kersol 6 BZ Ointment treats various skin infections, such as eczema, psoriasis. It consists of Betamethasone, Salicylic acid and Zinc oxide. Betamethasone is a corticosteroid that blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen and itchy. It treats inflammation and itchiness caused by eczema and psoriasis. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medicine (softens, separates and causes desquamation (peeling) of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin). It increases the amount of moisture in the skin and dissolves the substance that causes the skin cells to stick together. Salicylic acid breaks down the clumps of keratin, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. It is also an anti-inflammatory agent and topical antibacterial. Zinc oxide is a mild antiseptic and astringent (cleanses skin and tightens pores). It is a mineral that treats minor burns, severely chapped skin and other minor skin irritations. When applied to the skin, it forms a barrier to protect it from moisture and irritants. Thus, it acts as a protective coating for mild skin irritations and abrasions. Kersol 6 BZ Ointment removes the scaling and reduces the redness and itchiness due to skin infections.
Kersol 6 BZ Ointment is for topical (for skin) use only. Prolonged use of steroid-containing medicines leads to skin sensitisation and the development of resistant organisms. Do not cover the affected areas with occlusive dressings while using Kersol 6 BZ Ointment. Avoid applying Kersol 6 BZ Ointment on sunburns, lesions, blisters, and open wounds. Let your doctor know if you are a pregnant woman or a lactating mother before using Kersol 6 BZ Ointment. Do not go near naked flames since the fabric that comes in contact with Kersol 6 BZ Ointment may burn easily. Washing the fabric may decrease the risk, but it does not remove the product completely. Do not store Kersol 6 BZ Ointment above 25°C.
